A simple and orderly plaque bearing a truly profound epitaph that conveys all the malaise of this famous exponent of Romanticism. A tomb that makes you think and understand how hard misunderstanding and isolation can be, especially on the part of your loved ones and important people. Deep and melancholic, it is still worth taking a ride.

In the non-Catholic cemetery of Rome (also known as the English cemetery) in via in via Caio Cestio (Rione XX –Testaccio), there is the tomb of John Keats, born in London in 1795, from a family of modest origins, he went to Rome to heal, together with his dear friend Joseph Severn. Unfortunately he did not find the hoped for benefit and died of tuberculosis, very young at only 25 years old, in 1821. The love of poetry has swept over his short life, he soon began to compose highly appreciated poems, especially focused on the feelings of the human soul. In Rome he lived in an evocative building to the right of the Spanish Steps, where his house-museum can still be visited, and where there is a plaque in perpetual memory. Looking at the tomb one is amazed by its simplicity and also by the lack of indications of the name and its dates of birth and death, but only an inscription in English stands out, which in Italian means: This grave contains everything what was mortal, of a YOUNG ENGLISH POET, who on his deathbed, in the bitterness of his heart, however the evil power of his enemies, he wanted these words were engraved on the his tombstone: "Here he lies one whose name was written in water" February 24, 1821 Near him there is an equally shaped burial of his fraternal friend Joseph Severn (born 1793 and died 1879). The modest tomb of John Keats is probably the most loved and visited by tourists.

The pyramid and area was very cool, but just thought that it should be mentioned that if you are walking from the ostiense train station to be careful of your surroundings, especially if you are a woman traveling by yourself or with a friend. The two of us, 22 years old, and with suitcases (maybe super obvious that we were tourists), had a man follow us from the station and felt very unsafe.
