P	Patrizia Martinelli on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La basilica sorge in un'area un po' nascosta del Piccolo Aventino, di fronte al prospetto posteriore dei resti monumentali delle Terme di Caracalla. Poco conosciuta e poco pubblicizzata, merita ampiamente una visita. Sorta in epoca paleocristiana sui parato murario della domus Cilonis, di cui si conserva traccia specialmente sul lato sinistro dell'edificio, la chiesa è uno scrigno molto interessante. Dietro la facciata con portico di epoca cinquecentesca, l'interno presenta un'impronta medievale. Scarna e austera, la pianta rivela un'aula unica con cappelle laterali, come avveniva nella tradizione della tecnica costruttiva degli ordini mendicanti. L'abside, con cattedra cosmatesca, è introdotta da un coro con plutei decorati. Anche il pavimento è cosmatesco. Di pregevole fattura le sepolture tardomedievali. Si segnalano anche le grandi capriate lignee del soffitto, di cui una recante l'iscrizione e lo stemma di uno dei Patriarchi di Aquileia, un unicum a Roma. Sulle pareti del portico esterno sono esposti laterizi con bollo, utili generalmente a delineare la datazione degli edifici in cui venivano utilizzati. The basilica stands in a slightly hidden area of the Little Aventine, in front of the rear elevation of the monumental remains of the Baths of Caracalla. Little known and little publicized, it is well worth a visit. Built in the early Christian epoch on the parapet wall of the domus Cilonis, of which traces are preserved especially on the left side of the building, the church is a very interesting casket. Behind the facade with a sixteenth-century portico, the interior has a medieval imprint. Scarna and austere, the plant reveals a single room with side chapels, as happened in the tradition of the construction technique of mendicant orders. The apse, with a cosmathic cathedra, is introduced by a choir with decorated plutei. The floor is also cosmatesque. Late-medieval tombs of exquisite workmanship. Also worthy of note are the large wooden trusses of the ceiling, one of which bears the inscription and the coat of arms of one of the Patriarchs of Aquileia, a unicum in Rome. On the walls of the external portico are bricks with stamp, generally useful to delineate the dating of the buildings in which they were used.

Fu dedicata a Balbina, una martire cristiana riconosciuta come santa. La chiesa attualmente è un luogo di culto senza parrocchia e viene adibita principalmente a matrimoni. La facciata è stata rifatta in epoca rinascimentale. L'ubicazione è molto suggestiva, vicino alla chiesa si trova il convento, gestito dalle suore del terz'ordine di S.Francesco dei Ss.Cuori ed attualmente adibito a ricovero per anziani. The church of Santa Balbina was built in Rome in the early Christian era (fourth century AD) in front of the Baths of Caracalla. It was dedicated to Balbina, a Christian martyr recognized as a saint. The church is currently a place of worship without a parish and is mainly used for weddings. The facade was redone in the Renaissance period. The location is very suggestive, near the church there is the convent, managed by the nuns of the third order of S.Francesco dei Ss.Cuori and currently used as a shelter for the elderly. D	Domenico Carbone on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chiesa antichissima posta accanto alle vestige delle terme di caracalla, un po nascosta ma piena di opere d'arte bellissime. Non è molto conosciuta ma la visita (è aperta di rado) è sicuramente interessante. Ancient church located next to the vestiges of the baths of caracalla, a little hidden but full of beautiful works of art. It is not very well known but the visit (it is rarely open) is certainly interesting.

La chiesa è chiusa per ristrutturazione ma è possibile visitare il retro occupato appunto dalla casa di riposo e gestito da un convento di suore. Bellissima la location che sovrasta le vicine terme. Paleochristian basilica with adjoining convent and retirement home. The church is closed for renovation but it is possible to visit the rear occupied by the retirement home and run by a convent of nuns. The location overlooking the nearby thermal baths is beautiful.

S	S L on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very cute church to visit if you happen to be close to the Baths of Caracalla. The hours that it is open are very limited however - when I was there is was open at 6-7am and not again until 4:30pm.
V	Vasili Timonen on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In 2017, Mass was being celebrated on weekdays at 6:30, and Sundays at 10:00 except the last Sundays of the months of September to June when it was at 11:00. This is an important 4th century church which has very limited opening hours. Note that the railing gates closing off the front loggia are rarely open. To visit the church, go through the former entrance to the right of the façade, straight on through the courtyard and enter via the door in the top right hand corner. This brings you into the church just by the sanctuary. Note that a lot of the photos posted here are off-subject.
