You pay for coffee first, then squeeze in with a flood of other travellers to pick it up at the bar, amongst the people drinking coffee at the baralready. Bad system but I can handle it if it weren't for the staff being rude. Would give zero stars if I could.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stepped off the train from Rome and immediately went to what looked like an upper end sandwich shop. While browsing I stopped to take a picture and was strongly rebuked by the ruse staff. I would encourage everyone to go to any of the other restaurants or bistros in the area that want your business. This place only stays open by location.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ STAY AWAY. This place will fleece you, just as everything else at the train station.
Woman at cash register insisted that a cappuccino and a pastry is a "combo" that must also come with orange juice (€1,50).
Cappuccino is advertised only as €1,60 but I was asked if I wanted medium or large. I said medium, and was charged €2,00
At least the bathroom was open, though the toilet was in constant flush mode, one of the faucets was literally hanging out by the pipes, and there was no soap.

You pay for coffee first, then queue for what seems like forever, as the staff purposely serves those drinking at the counter before their take-away customers.
RUDE staff served COLD cappuccino - with milk coming straight from the bottle instead of being warmed-up.
Try any other coffee place!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Inside the Santa Maria Novella Station near platforms 4 and 5 I had an excellent sandwich and a very good coffee. Very kind and attentive staff. All covid-19 rules respected. Very high cost of products as in all Autogrill restaurant structures.
