A must see and you can go by metro. Just get out at Ostia Antica. And careful google maps tells you to get out of the station to get your connection to the Ostia line but the connection is inside the station. The place is much bigger than Pompei so wesr good shoes! Take a big bottle of water. There are fountains but not enough and I couldn't find the cafe and I wasn't the only one. Luckily lots of shady places to rest. The visit will last 3 good hours in my opinion.

Amazing place. The biggest preserved old Roman city, you can easily spend half a day here. Impressive. The old harbor of Rome provides everything from regular houses to a big theater. Take your time to walk on the main road that enters the complex. There is a restaurant with good food where you can rest because there is a lot of walking! If you go in the summer take your hat and use sunscreen.

Amazing experience. 40 mins by metro from the city. Less crowded. We spent half a day exploring the huge landmark. Audio guide recommended. You can as well visit the beach near by.

Amazing example of real roman culture and architecture without crowd of tourists from around the world. I impressed and liked it so much. Only few school groups and European and USA tourists it is a guaranty of fine time spending in this archeological site.

An excellent archeological site, once a full vibrant/active city by the port near by Rome is ruined and abundant now. This is a kind of nearby place from Rome, may take an hour max to go and transportation is very cheap, one way €1.50 (Metro) is enough to go to this extra ordinary place. People are crazy to go to Pompeii but this is far way from Rome, may take 4 hours around, minimum €80.00 (around) however kind of similar experience you may have by visiting Ostia Antica. There is a museum inside, very good collection, a must go place, souvenir shop and a good restaurant, bit expensive but good portion and quality food. Entrance fee to the is site is around €10.00 per person, I think. I loved it, a place to be recommended.
