★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Posta dietro le Terme di Nettuno, la Caserma a due piani, così come la vediamo, fu inaugurata da Adriano nel 137 d.C. e poteva accogliere fino a 400 vigili, addetti in particolare dei magazzini e dei granai portuali. L'equipaggiamento era costituito da asce, falci, picconi, coperte imbevute di aceto e pompe ad acqua.
Located behind the Terme di Nettuno, the two-storey barracks, as we see it, was inaugurated by Adriano in 137 AD and could accommodate up to 400 police officers, in particular in warehouses and port granaries. The equipment consisted of axes, sickles, picks, vinegar-soaked blankets and water pumps.

It's hard to imagine that level of society and utility services development in that ancient time. Long time after Roman Empire no one in Europe and Eastern Europe had those level of services.
