The statue was made by Ugo Zannoni in marble of Carrara. It was set up in 1875 because the city decided to build a monument devoted to the most important Italian poet. Because Dante was a guest Scaligeri in Verona during his exile from Florence. H

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ At Piazza dei Signori is a monument to the great Danteu Alighieri who lived for about 6 years in Verona after Florence exiles.
The statue was built in 1865 and represents a large poet in an imaginary position, with a deed in hand and a finger under his chin that gives him a deep look, almost strict.
Under your feet you can read the term "Danteu first refuge"
Thanks to the monument of the Grand Poet, Trg Veronesi usually call Piazza Dante.
