Church not rich but suggestive, the fresco behind the altar reproduces a boat in difficulty when returning to the canal port of Fiumicino, you can see behind the rescuers the Clemtina tower, one of the symbols of Fiumicino, destroyed by the German troops in retreat at the end of the Second World War. The church is part of a long building built in the second part of the nineteenth century based on a design by the architect Valadier,

It is a church always in the sun. Inside, a large fresco depicting the help that the Madonna provides for fishermen entering the canal port. There are also other beautiful designs. The Church is not large but very welcoming.

At the beginning of the 17th century, the religious service was performed in the area by a chaplain of the Archpriest of Porto in a small church dedicated to the Holy Crucifix existing on the Sacred Island of Fiumicino. This small church was located about three hundred meters downstream from the Torraccia and must have been built in the early 16th century, not far from the seashore. In 1787, Cardinal Fabrizio Ruffo di Bagnara had a new church built at the expense of the Reverend Apostolic Chamber for the convenience of the population and sailors, which was also dedicated to the Holy Crucifix. The Marquis of Guglielmi bought the Isola Sacra estate in 1831, including the church. Subsequently, despite the precise conditions agreed with the Apostolic Chamber, which among other things even provided for the termination of the contract of sale, the Church could no longer be open to the public due to poor static conditions derived from the lack of maintenance on the part by Guglielmi. family. This state of affairs and the opportunity to develop the city on the right bank of the canal port led the Reverend Apostolic Chamber to build another church in Fiumicino. Under the pontificate of Pius VII, the construction of the new church began in 1823. Gaetano Moroni Romano, in his dictionary of ecclesiastical-historical scholarship, published in Venice in 1852, writes that the works for the construction of the new city of Fiumicino began in 1823 and developed between the Alessandrina and Clementina towers. In the center, isolated between the new houses, it was built on a Cav design. Giuseppe Valadier, the elegant and beautiful church. On December 10, 1828, reigning Pope Leo XII, Cardinal Bartolomeo Pacca, bishop of Porto, solemnly consecrated the new church dedicating it to Santa Maria Porto della Salute, as recalled by the marble plaque placed inside over the main door and the drum, from where the beautiful and perfect dome rises.
