★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa è stata costruita in stile neoclassico tra il 1774 ed il 1777 su progetto dell'arch. Francesco Navone al quale papa Clemente XIV affidò peraltro il compito di progettare tutto il borgo di San Lorenzo volendo realizzare una sorta di "città ideale".
Affacciata su un'insolita piazza ottagonale la chiesa si fa notare per l'altezza della sua facciata sulla quale troneggia lo stemma di papa Pio VI il pontefice che portò successivamente a termine il complesso progetto.
All'interno si può ammirate un busto dello stesso Pio VI (attribuito ad Antonio Canova), due dipinti cinquecenteschi di Jacopo Zucchi e - soprattutto - un crocifisso in legno policromo del XII secolo oggetto di grande devozione popolare.
The church was built in neoclassical style between 1774 and 1777 on a project by arch. Francesco Navone to whom Pope Clement XIV also entrusted the task of designing the whole village of San Lorenzo, wanting to create a sort of "ideal city".
Overlooking an unusual octagonal square, the church stands out for the height of its facade on which stands the coat of arms of Pope Pius VI the pontiff who subsequently completed the complex project.
Inside you can admire a bust of Pius VI himself (attributed to Antonio Canova), two sixteenth-century paintings by Jacopo Zucchi and - above all - a polychrome wooden crucifix of the twelfth century object of great popular devotion.
