★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Poggioreale Vecchia is calked the "ghost city". It's incredible how magnificent this small village was... incredible churces... a theatre!!! The village was partially destroyed by the earthquake in 60'.
I recommend to visit it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A must see if your in the area... You don't have to go over the wall to get in.. when walking toward the front walk to the right to go around.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Do a detour to this place on your way to Monrele or Palermo. It's a quick quick stroll through the earthquaked struck area for a totally out of this world experience. The metal gates are locked but you can climb the low walls to the left. Many friendly dogs accompany you and feed them some bread or biscuits if you have.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very touching place to visit, shocking to see a village stopped in time by the power of the earth. I love history and particularly recent history so this are is massively interesting to me.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really beautiful. Be prepared for some challenging unpaved roads. There's a gate to stop cars. Walk around it to your right. Stay out of the ruins. Really beautiful and worth the trip.

Easiest access is parking on the top road above the village and walking down the grassy path NE of town (follow the sheep poop).
Earthquake was in 1968 watch out if you go inside buildings, they could collapse on your head and some have basements so mind your step.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Trilling view of how little we are comparing to nature. Beautifully sat in mountains little city, ruined by the earthquake. Can he a bit dangerous some houses could keep on collapsing... It's like italian Charnobyl..
