S	Shelby Elkins on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This was one of the more expensive experiences in Assisi(when compared to other rates in the city) and was the most poorly maintained place we visited. Everything was out of date, not safe, and should be free. They did not even have bathrooms and are located a decent distance from anything else. I would not return.
B	Ben Maerzke on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful. Best views in Assisi ; definitely worth a visit, even if you're in Assisi for religious reasons (and Rocca isn't even a church!) €8 entrance fee. Try to go when the polygonal tower is open for visitors - it's the best part by far. Cool medieval exhibits, if you're in to that sort of thing, but even if you're not, the view alone is worth the entrance fee.
C	CaptainLuckyDucky on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are a history buff such as myself, you will LOVE Rocca (or Castle, in Italian) Maggiore in Assisi, Italy. The castle stands atop the hill just above the city. The walk to the castle IS a steep one, so be prepared to climb, but once you see the view from the top, those resulting tight hamstrings (unless you give yourself enough time for a good stretch) will be more than worth it. From the tower of the castle, you can get a stunning view of a portion of Umbria (the region in which Assisi is located) below. Inside the castle itself, there are displays of medieval dress and weaponry, as well as details and pictures from the city's yearly Renaissance festival. Magnificently preserved, Rocca Maggiore is truly a spectacle.

The place is dedicated to beloved Francis, but - as we know, women are being wiped out of history. Here I mean his companion - 12 years younger Saint Clara. Daughters of rich and noble family, Francis' inspiration and "love". Which ... according historical sources.. has tortured herself by starving. Preciously - as scientists, theologians and the Church says. Even more precously, the scientists, theologians, and the Church have put her down, as I say. Her theme is eternal but in the date of Pranic World Festival is directly concerns us. "Privilege to refuse privilege".
T	Thảo Nguyễn Phương on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In nice weather, climbing up here is great. You can have a panorama view of Assisi and the whole area. I bet it good to watch sunset as well. Right at the bottom of the fort, there is a parking lot which is only 200m walking up.
D	Dorota Adamczyk on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stunning place and a great chunk of history. Very well preserved, it's not a ruin but a proper fortress. Entrance is paid, but a nice surprise: payment by card is accepted. One thing to take into consideration: the castle is on the hill and the climb can be exhausting if the day is hot. The road is even and you don't need to hike through but still can be a challenge. Just beside the castle there is a bar with tables outside, a good spot to catch a breath after getting up the hill, there is also a loo available. Beautiful views from up there, I loved it.

They have staged the inside so that you can have an idea of how it would be utilized. Lots of plaques that explain the history and uses. Spectacular views but no easy way to get there. Be ready for A LOT of stairs!
