Per arrivare alla Rocca prima si dovrà fare un bel percorso in auto, strada completamente sterrata da percorrere a passo d'uomo, altrimenti i vari sassi e sassini vi graffieranno l'auto. Noi abbiamo parcheggiato al parcheggio Rocca 1. Li si trova un cartello che dice tempo di percorrenza 45 minuti. Sinceramente non riesco a credere che altre persone lo abbiano potuto fare in 20 o 30 minuti. Percorso molto faticoso, completamente in salita con un dislivello di 350m. La Rocca è da visitare ma sinceramente non so se ne è valsa la pena. * Definitely a must visit * I am writing this review to clarify some points that are very confusing by reading the previous reviews. To get to the Rocca first you will have to take a nice route by car, completely unpaved road to travel at walking pace, otherwise the various stones and pebbles will scratch your car. We parked at Rocca 1 car park. There is a sign that says travel time 45 minutes. I honestly can't believe other people could have done it in 20 or 30 minutes. Very tiring route, completely uphill with a difference in altitude of 350m. La Rocca is worth visiting but honestly I don't know if it was worth it.
R	Rosella Pulvino on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il percorso che porta alla rocca è carino e facile da percorrere.... Ovviamente a piedi. Ben tenuto. La Rocca non offre niente più che un tavolino e pochi resti. La vista è a 360 gradi. Almeno per quella merita. The path that leads to the fortress is nice and easy to follow .... Obviously on foot. Well kept. La Rocca offers nothing more than a small table and few remains. The view is 360 degrees. At least for that it deserves.

Die Anlage ist gut gesichert und bietet einen fantastischen Blick auf die Gegend! Despite the warm conditions in September, the facility is easy to reach. Sun and shade alternate. A	Alessio Guiggi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ruderi di un poderoso castello medievale edificato (probabilmente) in epoca longobarda su di un grande masso calcareo che si erge imponente a 532 mt slm. Molto probabilmente aveva lo scopo militare di sorvegliare la strada che congiungeva le valli del Cecina e dell'Era. La prima notizia certa risale al 1028 quando venne citato come punto di confine tra le diocesi di Volterra e Pisa. Conteso ininterrottamente tra Volterra, Pisa ed infine anche Firenze, nel 1405 venne consegnato dai Pisani ai Fiorentini all'insaputa della popolazione, la cui ribellione provocò la rappresaglia della Repubblica che demolì definitivamente il fortilizio nel 1431. La Rocca, da allora in stato di completo abbandono, è stata sottoposta recentemente ad alcuni interventi di restauro conservativo che ne consentono una buona lettura e fruizione. Mozzafiato il panorama che si gode dalla sommità della rupe dove in origine si ergeva la Torre del Mastio. Interessante la visita interna alla Torre Eptagonale oggi egregiamente restaurata. La Rocca si raggiunge percorrendo a piedi un piacevole stradello dopo aver lasciato l'auto nei pressi del podere La Casina, sede dell'azienda agricola Ombra. Ruins of a mighty medieval castle built (probably) in the Lombard period on a large limestone boulder that rises imposingly at 532 meters above sea level. Most likely it had the military purpose of guarding the road that connected the Cecina and Era valleys. The first certain news dates back to 1028 when it was mentioned as a border point between the dioceses of Volterra and Pisa. Continuously disputed between Volterra, Pisa and finally also Florence, in 1405 it was handed over by the Pisans to the Florentines without the knowledge of the population, whose rebellion provoked the reprisal of the Republic which definitively demolished the fortress in 1431. The Rocca, since then in a state of complete abandonment, it has recently undergone some conservative restoration interventions that allow it to be read and enjoyed. The view from the top of the cliff where the Torre del Mastio originally stood is breathtaking. The internal visit to the Heptagonal Tower is interesting, today it has been beautifully restored. La Rocca can be reached by walking along a pleasant road after having left the car near the La Casina farm, home of the Ombra farm.

È facilmente raggiungibile con una bellissima passeggiata attraversando un bosco. Once you reach the fortress you can enjoy a fantastic view and the places are enchanting and peaceful. It is a medieval castle in the municipality of Lajatico. It is easily reachable with a beautiful walk through a wood.
Y	Yel Ler on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful view but beware of the poisonous vipers in this area. There’s also a sign warning you of them about a 100 metres down the place but we made the mistake to not take it to seriously… there were a lot of snakes actually, most of them aspis vipers we figured.
