A suggestive place that can be reached after a nice walk up from the lake. Closed due to falling stones, it is worth climbing both for the walk and for the view.

Luogo panoramico molto suggestivo.
Very suggestive panoramic place. It can be reached either on foot via a walk of about 30 minutes starting from Piediluco or by car. Absolutely recommended if you are in those parts!

Stupenda rocca, facilmente raggiungibile tramite sentiero.
Superb fortress, easily accessible by footpath. The fabulous panorama gives way to the Piediluco lake, from which the famous Marmore waterfalls originate

Decisamente deludente.
Definitely disappointing. You can see it from the bottom of the country and you don't notice how abandoned it is to itself. The road to get there is not too long, but it is decidedly uncomfortable: few or no signs to indicate the path, an unpaved road full of holes and stones, branches that often invade the road. Once you arrive you get to the ruins devoured by brambles and brushwood. Broken lampposts and no important indication to describe what is there. For my part, it was an unnecessary effort.

To go up to the Rocca di Piediluco you can take the feeling that is inside the town, or go by car, strongly discouraged on days before holidays and holidays, as the dirt road is very narrow. La Rocca is located in a very dominant point, do not expect to take a panoramic photo of the lake below, the vegetation is very thick and high. A TRUE PITY that these places are so neglected and poorly preserved.

perfect mix o' water, rugged hike, wild forest sections, a panaramic view, ruins o' long gone humans, interesting historia... 'The name originally derives from a sacred forest that the ancient Roman author Pliny described in his β€œNaturalis Historia”. It was a sacred woodland initially dedicated to the Sabine goddess Vacuna and later, during the time of ancient Rome, to the goddesses Diana and Velinia. The site was fortified during the Middle Ages, but its heyday came during the conflicts between the opposing factions of Guelphs and Ghibellines. Frederick II of Hohenstaufen gave the castle to the Brancaleoni family, and during the following centuries, it witnessed continuous sieges and struggles between the cities of Rieti, Spoleto, Foligno, and Perugia. Spoleto took the upper hand during the 14th-century, especially during the rule of Cardinal Albornoz. During the following centuries, the castle was passed on from one local family to another until it was finally abandoned in the 18th-century. Today, the castle has been partly reconstructed and its two separate parts, the defensive keep and residential quarters, can be clearly distinguished from one another. The castle can be reached via a marked trail from Piediluco village or on a gravel road which is only accessible with four-wheel drive. It's a 30-minute walk along either path.'

Unfortunately it is not possibly to access inside the castle. Nevertheless atop landscape is very good. For those who want to make a 30mins trekking, there is a nice single track which reaches the castle starting from the parking at lake level, north side.
