★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Upon arrival the reception stated we could only visit with a guided tour (starting in 30 minutes) which was only in Italian. At first it scared us off, yet we decided to try it anyway. We had Francesca as our guide and because of the amount of English visitors she did the whole tour in two languages. She improvised on the spot and it was wonderful. The stories she told were amazing and it was easy to follow along. She took even more time after the tour to tell some more about the site and the region of Pozzuoli. Rione Terra is an amazing site to visit, with it being an exciting new excavation (and I believe relatively new park that you can visit). It also use some video projections to give an idea of how the different locations were used back in the day. Similar to many sites in the neighbourhood it's Romans building on the Greek structure remains, and later during the Spanish inquisition some of the areas were also still used and adjusted. It's a great location with an interesting story of the past. Even if you've seen sites like Pompeii or Ercolano this remains a unique archeological site to visit because of how you can walk through the different layers on top of each other and the impressive way it's presented by the guide and videos. It's only open on Saturdays and Sundays (at this time) so definitely keep an eye on the opening times to ensure you don't miss out on this gem.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing archeological site. The architecture is very different from the more famous sites in Pompeii and Herculaneum. The guided tour (with Pasquale) was also excellent.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Definitely worth a visit, and to be combined with the anphytheatre and the roman market. Only annoying thing is the schedule (opens only on weekends and holidays) and make sure to reserve your guided tour, or you won't be able to visit.
