M	Massimo Rucci on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Assolutamente da visitare da soli e con una guida, questo Duomo racchiude più di 2000 anni di storia. Attualmente Basilica di San Procolo martire il Tempio originario di epoca greca del 200 a.C. a 9 colonne fu trasformato in chiesa nel VI secolo. Poi nel 1538 con la formazione del Monte Nuovo e bradisismo, subì notevoli danni. Altri restauri, terremoti, il bradisismo e un incendio ne hanno modificato la struttura. Ma nel recente restauro hanno riportato a vista parte dell'antico Tempio Augusteo protetto da una struttura in vetro, il timpano con parte dei fregi e alcune delle colonne. All'interno bellissimi splendidi quadri della pittrice Artemisia Gentileschi, autrice delle tre tele, la più famosa racconta dell'episodio che vede protagonista San Gennaro e gli altri martiri nell'anfiteatro di Pozzuoli dove furono portati per essere sbranati dai leoni che invece si inginocchiarono ai santi. Altri quadri raffigurano i Santi Procolo e Nicea e l'Adorazione dei Magi. Durante la mia visita erano presenti anche le statue di San Gennaro portate in processione da Napoli. Absolutely to visit alone and with a guide, this Cathedral contains more than 2000 years of history. Currently the Basilica of San Procolo martyr the original Temple of the Greek era of 200 BC 9 columns was transformed into a church in the 6th century. Then in 1538 with the formation of Monte Nuovo and bradisismo, it suffered considerable damage. Other restorations, earthquakes, bradyseism and a fire have changed the structure. But in the recent restoration they have reported part of the ancient Augusteo Temple protected by a glass structure, the tympanum with part of the friezes and some of the columns. Inside beautiful splendid paintings by the painter Artemisia Gentileschi, author of the three canvases, the most famous tells of the episode that sees San Gennaro as protagonist and the other martyrs in the amphitheater of Pozzuoli where they were brought to be torn to pieces by the lions who instead knelt to the saints. Other paintings depict Saints Proculus and Nicea and the Adoration of the Magi. During my visit there were also statues of San Gennaro carried in procession from Naples.

Una meta obbligatoria da visitare se si è in città. Credo che le foto parlino più di ogni altra recensione! An incredibly beautiful cathedral, full of paintings. It is amazing how well preserved this has been found after centuries. A mandatory destination to visit if you are in the city. I think the photos speak louder than any other review!

Unica possibilità era seguire la loro guida interna per l'intero percorso. Incomprensibile! Bad experience. There were five of us, it was not possible to enter the cathedral either alone or with our guide. The only possibility was to follow their internal guide for the entire journey. Incomprehensible!

Pensare che di consueto il borgo è conosciuto solo come luogo di transito per le splendide isole campane (Procida, Ischia) rammarica, è invece assolutamente da visitare, oltre che per essere accogliente, pulito e d’incantevole posizione, soprattutto per questo bellissimo emozionante percorso sotterraneo della sua storia, da completare con Puteoli Sacra e la meravigliosa cattedrale. Il tutto va completato con l’assaggio imperdibile della gastronomia locale! Pozzuoli with its #RioneTerra or the ancient #Puteoli, a real discovery! Thinking that the village is usually known only as a transit place for the splendid islands of Campania (Procida, Ischia) regrets, it is instead absolutely worth visiting, as well as for being welcoming, clean and in an enchanting position, especially for this beautiful exciting route underground of its history, to be completed with Puteoli Sacra and the wonderful cathedral. All this must be completed with an unmissable taste of local gastronomy!

La Cattedrale è un gioiello di storia, arte, archeologia, architettura, restauro...La sua lunga e complessa storia è molto interessante, perciò è necessaria una visita guidata. Non esiste nulla del genere al mondo: una chiesa metà tempio pagano, perfettamente conservato, e metà basilica barocca. All'interno, come se non bastasse solo questo a meravigliarci, ci sta anche una quadreria incredibile, con due dipinti di Artemisia Gentileschi, la prima donna a portare le sue opere in un luogo di culto. Un incanto. Bisogna solo andare a visitarla e innamorarsi di questo posto. A place out of space and time, literally. There is no such thing in the world: a church that is half a pagan temple, perfectly preserved, and half a baroque basilica. Inside, as if this were not enough to amaze us, there is also an incredible picture gallery, with two paintings by Artemisia Gentileschi, the first woman to bring her works to a place of worship. An enchantment. You just have to go and visit it and fall in love with this place.
