Bel centro storico e gradevole passeggiata. Stonano un po' quelle targhe SPQA. ?
Nice old town and pleasant walk. Those SPQA plates are a little out of place. ?

Imposing entrance to the castrum of Albano which could be considered a real military city, an obligatory passage between Rome and Southern Italy. In this grandiose "encampment", the Second Legion "Partica" was stationed, capable of 45,000 men, attested by the emperor Septimius Severus, up to Constantine. The castrum was entirely surrounded by a fortified wall with turrets, all the barracks were in masonry.

A small piece of the ancient history of Rome at street level and that can be seen up close. How I went at Christmas, the neighborhood took advantage of the place to make an almost life-size nativity scene. The truth is that the lights and the accessibility of the place make it worth visiting at night. Attention! It is hard to see because it is surrounded by houses.

Like in a glass ampoule, a small journey through time in the middle of the town, for a real piece of Roman history. While walking suddenly you find the ruins by your side, you can almost touch them. At night, then, lighting creates a special atmosphere. Well worth a walk in the oldest town in the city of Rome.

Vestiges from the past in the midst of 'hellish traffic' (you can't even see it well and hear the explanations from the cars ?)

Oh it's beautiful to see this well-preserved corner and it brings us the heritage value of what this city once experienced under the Roman Empire! It makes me feel good to see them!

Antica porta dell'accampamento militare della Legione Partica.
Ancient gate of the military camp of the Parthian Legion. It can be visited from the outside, perhaps during a walk on the Corso. This monumental door was built on a square base with peperino parallelepipeds. It was 36m wide and 14m high. The pediment is shown on the Via Appia below and is decorated with architectural elements and marble statues, of which only a few remains are today. On site there is an information panel with the history of the monument.
