Si tratta di un’opera berniniana a di grande rilevanza (storica e artistica), ma viene lasciata davvero troppo fino a sé stessa. Really too scruffy. È stata realizzata su progetto del Bernini e si trova all'ingresso di Ariccia di fronte al palazzo Chigi. Entrambi i monumenti impreziosiscono la piazza e risaltano per il bianco dell'intonaco. Peccato che la strada in quel punto sia particolarmente trafficata! The Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo has the characteristic of being circular in plan. We were in Ariccia in August 2019 to try the legendary Fraschette, after having satiated ourselves we took two steps to admire the beauty of the place, including this church in which there are splendid examples of classical architecture, reminiscent of the Pantheon of Rome.

Bella la Chiesa di Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo con la collegiata e le fontane realizzate da Gian Lorenzo Bernini ad impreziosire ancor piu Piazza di Corte che la rendono unica. Magico camminare la sera per le viuzze illuminate dai vecchi lampioni in versione ammodernata, con led al posto delle vecchie lampadine meno efficienti; molto altro da visitare e vedere come ad esempio l'alto ponte monumentale su tre file di archi sovrapposti, alto ben 59 metri, eretto da Ireneo Aleandri a metà del 1800 e palazzo Chigi con il suo splendido parco di 28 ettari, anch'essi realizzati dal Bernini. Ariccia is a place to visit for the renowned fraschette where you can taste the typical dishes of Roman and local cuisine at a good value for money. Nonostante le dimensione notevolmente ridotte rispetto all'originale, è davvero bella, con affreschi molto interessanti. Particolare la forma tonda della pianta. Imponente la cupola ottimamente decorata. Si affaccia sulla grande piazza, di fronte al palazzo della famiglia Chigi, che la commissionò al Bernini. I porticati laterali ospitano delle attività commerciali che rovinano la bellezza della chiesa. Nella piazza presente anche una bella fontana. Church clearly inspired by the Pantheon in Rome.
