Nel 1309 risulta affidata a Guglielmo de' Aquilano, mentre nel 1338 è tenuta in beneficio dall'abate Nicola de' Terento. Nel 1470 si emette una bolla di provvista del titolare, essendo parrocchiale; così come nel 1501, quando la sua retoria è conferita il 25 agosto dal Vicario Generale del Cardinale Fregoso, nel corso della visita pastorale a Serino. Il 15 ottobre 1811 le vengono annessi il territorio ed il titolo della sopprimenda San Nicola de' Pumpulo. Nel corso dei bombardamenti del 16 settembre 1943 la chiesa è gravemente danneggiata e distrutta la casa canonica, nella quale muore il giovane parroco Don Felice Ventura. La chiesa sarà restaurata e la casa canonica ricostruita nel 1954. DescrizioneLa Chiesa ha il doppio titolo di "S. Margherita e S. Nicola del Pumpulo" perché nata dalla fusione delle due chiese. Attualmente presenta uno schema longitudinale ad unica navata di m.22,00×10,00 x 11,00 m. di altezza, con copertura in capriate metalliche (realizzate tra il 1990 ed 1991). L'interno, conserva ben poco delle preesistenze ad esclusione dell'altare maggiore, capolavoro in stile rococò. Il presbiterio è caratterizzato da una balaustra antistante in stile rococò datata 1700. 1232 - 1982 (general history) The church of S. The interior retains very little of the pre-existing structures with the exception of the high altar, a Rococo style masterpiece. The presbytery is characterized by a rococo-style balustrade in front of it dated 1700.
R	Raffaella D'Amelio on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa di Santa Margherita, ubicata nel quartiere Pastena, è un vero e proprio gioiello. Le sue origini risalgono addirittura al 1200. Ciò che attrae maggiormente il visitatore è senza dubbio l'altare, maestoso e in marmo bianco, che gli studiosi di storia dell'arte fanno risalire al 1700. L’altare poggia su tre scalini e, con i suoi ricchi elementi scultorei, è un chiaro esempio di “Rococò” o "Barocchetto”. Nella parte centrale inferiore spiccano due putti che reggono un ovale con croce raggiata. La parte superiore ha al centro il Tabernacolo con quattro cherubini. Ai due lati, due coppie di angeli, finemente scolpiti in un unico blocco marmoreo, reggono uno la fiaccola dell’Epistola e l’altro quella del Vangelo. Un altare simile si trova nella Chiesa della Nunziatella a Napoli. Non c'è da escludere che sia opera dello stesso artista. The Church of Santa Margherita, located in the Pastena district, is a real jewel. Its origins date back as far as 1200. What attracts the visitor most is undoubtedly the altar, majestic and in white marble, which scholars of art history trace back to 1700. The altar rests on three steps and, with its rich sculptural elements, is a clear example of "Rococò" or "Barocchetto". In the lower central part there are two cherubs holding an oval with a radiated cross. The upper part has the Tabernacle with four cherubs in the center. On both sides, two pairs of angels, finely carved in a single block of marble, hold one the torch of the Epistle and the other that of the Gospel. A similar altar is found in the Church of the Nunziatella in Naples. It cannot be ruled out that it is the work of the same artist.
