Nel 1756 furono ultimati i lavori di rifacimento del prospetto, decisione intrapresa dopo la conclusione della costruzione della nuova Chiesa Madre, per dare decoro alla piazza. Ancora oggi sede del consiglio comunale della città, nel 1862 all’edificio fu dato il nome di Palazzo VII Aprile 1860 per ricordare la rivolta popolare antiborbonica che preparò il terreno alla spedizione di Garibaldi e dei Mille. Oggi dell’originario palazzo, più volte restaurato e ristrutturato, non rimane più nulla se non la facciata, che si distingue per una struttura a due piani su cui spiccano gli eleganti portici e, al centro, una torre di cui fanno anche parte un orologio e una campana, in passato utilizzata per chiamare a raccolta i componenti del Consiglio Civico. In 1756 the works to renovate the facade were completed, a decision taken after the conclusion of the construction of the new Mother Church, to decorate the square. Still the seat of the town council of the city, in 1862 the building was given the name of Palazzo VII Aprile 1860 to remember the popular anti-Bourbon revolt that prepared the ground for the expedition of Garibaldi and the Thousand. Today of the original building, restored and renovated several times, nothing remains except the facade, which is distinguished by a two-storey structure on which the elegant arcades stand out and, in the center, a tower which also includes a clock and a bell, in the past used to summon the members of the Civic Council. Il palazzo è visitabile gratuitamente e aperto a tutti durante i consigli comunali o durante le esposizioni temporanee che si tengono in loco. Il palazzo è dotato di uno spendlido orologio che in numeri romani segna l'ora ed è uno dei pochi che vi si trovano in Sicilia. Prende il nome dalla rivolta che i cittadini fecero contro i Borboni il 7 Aprile 1860. Da visitare sicuramente la Stanza delle Lapidi del Consiglio Comunale, che raccolgono gran parte della storia risorgimentale del paese.
