The "Mysteries" kept in this Church are wonderful. Absolutely to see. Admission is free but an offer is welcome. Possible to take pictures.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa fa parte della triade delle chiese del Purgatorio che con quelle di Castelvetrano e Trapani furono imbiancate con gesso internamente su volere di un vescovo.
In una colonna è possibile ammirare le decorazioni di un tempo, adesso coperte dal gesso bianco.
Sotto di essa sono presenti dei canali che la collegano alla chiesa Madre, distante qualche centinaia di metri.
Oggi la Chiesa è sede dell’Auditorium “Santa Cecilia” e sede di numerosi eventi culturali. Di fronte la chiesa è possibile ammirare una splendida fontana barocca, posta al centro della piazzetta Lombardo detta Purgatorio
The church is part of the triad of churches in Purgatory which with those of Castelvetrano and Trapani were internally whitewashed with plaster on the wishes of a bishop.
In a column it is possible to admire the decorations of the past, now covered with white plaster.
Below it there are canals that connect it to the Mother Church, a few hundred meters away.
Today the Church is home to the "Santa Cecilia" Auditorium and home to numerous cultural events. In front of the church you can admire a splendid Baroque fountain, located in the center of the Lombardo square called Purgatory

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa del Purgatorio di Marsala si affaccia sull’omonima piazza, al centro della quale troneggia un’imponente fontana in stila barocco.
La chiesa nasce di fatto nel 1601, risultando oggetto di un ampliamento di una chiesa pre-esistente, ed accogliendo in tale data la Congregazione delle Anime del Purgatorio, dalla quale prende il nome, nascendo a nuova vita.
Tra la seconda metà del XVII e l’inizio del XVIII secolo, essa è stata completamente ristrutturata; notevoli la sua elegante cupola e l’imponente facciata, realizzata in tufo e notevolmente elaborata, secondo lo stile barocco. Molto scenografico il portale d’ingresso centrale.
L’interno è realizzato a tre navate, e custodisce opere pittoriche di rilievo, stucchi e diverse statue; decisamente scenografici gli affreschi che è possibile vedere sotto la cupola.
The Church of the Purgatory of Marsala overlooks the square of the same name, in the center of which stands an imposing fountain in the Baroque style.
The church was actually born in 1601, resulting in an extension of a pre-existing church, and on that date welcoming the Congregation of the Souls of Purgatory, from which it takes its name, being born to new life.
Between the second half of the seventeenth and the beginning of the eighteenth century, it was completely renovated; its elegant dome and imposing facade, made of tuff and remarkably elaborate, according to the Baroque style, are noteworthy. The central entrance portal is very scenic.
The interior has three naves, and houses relief paintings, stuccos and various statues; the frescoes that can be seen under the dome are quite spectacular.
