★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Solo nel 1984, grazie al deciso e appassionato impegno dell'arciprete Linares, gli otto splendidi arazzi fiamminghi donati nel XVI secolo alla Chiesa Madre dal vescovo di Messina Antonio Lombardo (marsalese di nascita) hanno ottenuto una sistemazione in un piccolo e suggestivo museo, attiguo all’abside della Matrice, in via Garraffa.
E pensare che nel XIX secolo, un arciprete tentò di venderli...
 Only in 1984, thanks to the decided and passionate commitment of the archpriest Linares, did the eight splendid Flemish tapestries donated in the 16th century to the Mother Church by the bishop of Messina Antonio Lombardo (Marsala born) got accommodation in a small and suggestive museum, adjacent at the apse of the Matrix, in via Garraffa.
And to think that in the 19th century, an archpriest tried to sell them ...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Museo tenuto male, pieno di polvere e soprattutto cupo. Gli arazzi, patrimonio artistico e storico inestimabile meriterebbero un museo molto più curato ed attenzionato dalle autorità competenti. L'ennesimo patrimonio culturale italiano trascurato. Nonostante ciò gli arazzi meritano di essere visionati per l'immensa bellezza ed importanza culturale.
Badly kept museum, full of dust and above all gloomy. The tapestries, an inestimable artistic and historical heritage, deserve a much more accurate and attentive museum by the competent authorities. Yet another neglected Italian cultural heritage. Despite this, the tapestries deserve to be seen for their immense beauty and cultural importance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ È difficile far apprezzare "dei pezzi di stoffa ricamata". Questo museo ci riesce. Grazie all'app, al sito e ai video che raccontano ciò che è raffigurato. Forse può sembrare noioso, ma è ricco di dettagli ed eventi storici molto particolari e interessanti.
It is difficult to appreciate "pieces of embroidered cloth". This museum does it. Thanks to the app, the site and the videos that tell what is depicted. It may sound boring, but it is full of very special and interesting historical details and events.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gli arazzi esposti sono di ottima fattura, ma il disegno che li sottende non è altrettanto valido. Inoltre sono collocati in spazi senza aria condizionata e, cosa molto più grave, sono raggiungibili solo arrampicandosi su per scalette abbastanza ripide. Barriere architettoniche a sfare. Costo 4 euro.
The tapestries on display are of excellent workmanship, but the design that underlies them is not as valid. They are also located in spaces without air conditioning and, much more serious, can only be reached by climbing up quite steep stairs. Architectural barriers to sfare. Cost 4 euros.
