The museum is fantastic. BUT - if you don’t understand Italian, you get very little out of the visit. In each room you can read a long detailed text in English, but what you need are little texts at each exhibit. On two tv-screens an Italian historian speaks alternately in English and Italian. Ahh, finally. But no ?. On the first tv-set it was impossible to hear what he said, the volume was too low. Why doesn’t the museum add English subtitles to the Italian version? So simple. And they were OUT OF AUDIOGUIDES! Not good enough, considering that we paid 11 euros pr person.

It's an absolute must when visiting Bologna. The museum is very well designed and information is very interesting and informational. If you're Italian skills aren't that good, take an audio guide (free of charge) in French or English. Furthermore there is additional written information in the various rooms (in German and English). Staff is very friendly and they have a dedicated corner to the story of Mortadela

11€ for a student ticket is a good price. Museum is quite big, 2h for a careful listening to the audio guide - which is for free. Aesthetics of this place is great, mix of modern neons with historical rooms and art, very impressive. You can learn there a lot of interesting facts about the city

This museo presents all the history of Bologna. Including paintings ana another stuff from medieval period until regeneration. The price was 13 euro ( 04.03.22). In wbout two hours you can see all the exhibits.

The museum is in fact very beautiful, modern and innovative, with numerous information available. The problem is that it is a common practice in European museums to treat both the national language and English equally. In this museum, all of the descriptions of exhibits are written in Italian only, with some rooms having a short English summary written on one A4 page, with no illustrations - nothing in comparison to vast amount, and the form, of information in Italian. So, if you do not know Italian, think twice if you want to spend your €13 on a museum where all you will understand are pictures, because everything else is in Italian only. I attach photos of a typical exhibit with only Italian description and a page of English text, definitely not-user friendly.

The Museum of the History of Bologna is housed in a magnificent historical building from the thirteenth century. The collection of the museum would be a hard sell for those who are not history buffs. The museum attracts very few people, especially when compared to the crowds that seem to take over Bologna on summer weekends. Another possible reason for people staying away is the high cost of admission. During the summer of 2021, a ticket was 13 Euros. If the museum's main intention had been to bring the history of Bologna to the average tourist, it should have lowered its admission prices.

What an amazing museum. Friendly staff and free audio guide for every room. I went and was the only customer in the entire museum with the Bologna Welcome card. It's modern with the presentation with detailed information on each part of Bologna's history, Etruscan to Medieval to Marconi. The neon room signs are a great juxtaposition to the old and a lot of thought has gone into the layout. Places like the British museum where everything is stolen can learn a lot from a place like this
