Dominiert von edlen Palazzi aus dem 13. bis 16. Jahrhundert. ;-)
Dominated by noble palazzi from the 13th to 16th centuries. At that time they had big plans - the Basilica of San Petronio should one day put St.Peter's Basilica in the shade. But as so often, the megalomania never came to an end. You can see building blocks like the Elbphilharmonie or Berlin Airport, which already existed in historic Italy. The Bolognese Pope Gregory XIII reformed the calendar and invented the leap year. Behind the Piazza Maggiore stands the slippery Neptune Fountain, with the amorous sirens, from whose breasts the water shoots. The Italians again, why are we not surprised ... ;-)

Palazzo dei Banchi overlooks Piazza Maggiore, the name derives from the presence, in ancient times, of 'banks' of money changers. In reality it is a scenographic facade to mask the alleys of the market behind it. Designed by Jacopo Barozzi known as Vignola, it dates back to the second half of the 16th century. The facade is based on fifteen arches, two of which allow passage to the old Clavature and Pescherie streets.
