Advance booking recommended. I made a on date booking for a weekday night and could only get a table at 9. The restaurant is located in a quiet square around the bustling bar and club area near Via Roma. Perfect for a romantic dinner. Tips: - The tables outside are good but the air in the night could be fresh, lady may need a scarf or light jacket. - Single traveler can still enjoy a rich dinner alone as they have tasting menu ?

My husband and I traveled to Sicily from the US and wanted to dine at some of the best places in Palermo- this gorgeous, special place absolutely blew us away. Osteria Dei Vespri is an Italian fine dining experience like none other- and for the value, you would never experience ANYTHING like this in America. I have severe food allergies and the staff was extremely accommodating, friendly and kind, and best of all, they made me such special and magical, creative dishes that I was able to enjoy everything from the amuse bouche to dessert with no fear that I may become allergic. We have been enchanted by everything in Palermo, but our meal here stands out as the highest point of our visit.

The morning of our planned visit to this restaurant, we grew slightly worried about some of the mixed reviews written about it here. Luckily, we found the food delicious and the service very cordial, despite our somehow disruptive visit with a 7 months old baby. We shared the Veil Tartar as starter, my partner had the Aneletti al polpo as a primo piatto, while I had the Busiatte con salsiccia di suino Nero. As a main, we shared the "Albacore" tuna. We finished sharing the Hot Cassatela as dessert. We had 2 glasses of white wine each, all recommended by our attentive waiter. We absolutely loved (almost) everything, the Aneletti sauce was beautiful, the Busiatte combination of salsiccia with clams worked intriguingly well, the Tartar with quail eggs was the best Tartar we've had. We wish we were more hungry at the end of our meals to try more of the desserts, because the Cassatela was delicious. If we have to mention something that we thought was good but somehow not as good as the rest, it was the Tuna: the sauce was delicious and the poppy seeds crust very creative and delicious, but the fish cut itself seemed a bit underwelming in flavor and texture. Again, still very good overall.

This was a hard one to rate. I will start out by saying that the location and setting (atmosphere) as well as extensive wine list deserves on its own a star. We reserved a table for 2 and were welcomed to choose from the available tables which was nice. However, after we were ordered the water for the table (which soon arrived), no one came by for 20 minutes. No menus, nothing. Then the main waiter came by to take our orders, at which point we had to say that we did not get even a menu to look at. He was apologetic, but one expects better service for the rating this place has. We also ordered a bottle of wine at this point, and probably would have had two bottles during the dinner if it we didn’t have to wait 40 minutes after our arrival to receive the first one - so it’s a lost opportunity for the owner, really. My starter (courgette) was super bland. I’m not a picky eater but nothing stood out despite the obvious attempt at sophisticated presentation. Lots of patrons were instagramming their plates which gave me a slight warning. It is like the chef forgot to touch any herbs or spices, not even salt, butter or oil. My main (fillet) was better and tasty but again slightly underwhelming given the way it is described on the menu. On the other hand, my companion really enjoyed both courses they chose, so it was a hit or miss experience.

Went for a meal last night for our wedding anniversary. We could not have chosen a better place: the service was outstanding, the wine list was excellent and the food was superb. It's a pity we don't live in Palermo!
