★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il museo del Vetro mostra oggetti e procedure per apprezzare anche oggi questo pregiato e un tempo insostituibile materiale. Fiaschi, damigiane, recipienti per il vino e l’olio, prodotti in grandi quantità a partire dalla seconda metà del XIX secolo.
Il vetro “artistico” è rappresentato dal vetro verde di Empoli e dal vetro colorato, trasparente, molato, inciso, decorato a smalto o pantografato, e al cristallo.
The glass museum displays objects and procedures to appreciate even today this precious and once irreplaceable material. Flasks, demijohns, containers for wine and oil, produced in large quantities since the second half of the nineteenth century.
“Artistic” glass is represented by green glass from Empoli and by colored, transparent, ground, engraved, enamel or pantographed glass and crystal.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ E' un'esposizione piuttosto sintetica ma interessante, incentrata sull'industria del vetro. Vengono descritte le fasi e i luoghi di lavorazione del vetro verde empolese, utilizzato per la realizzazione di fiaschi, damigiane, bicchieri, alambicchi e vetreria da laboratorio e farmacia. Il percorso prosegue al piano superiore con l'esposizione di oggetti d'arte realizzati in vetro.
Decisamente interessante è, oltre al contenuto, anche il "contenitore". Gli spazi di allestimento sono ricavati all'interno del Magazzino del Sale, edificio tra i più antichi della città (1365) in cui veniva conservato il sale proveniente dalle saline di Volterra.
It is a rather concise but interesting exhibition, centered on the glass industry. The phases and places of processing of Empoli green glass are described, used for the production of flasks, demijohns, glasses, stills and laboratory and pharmacy glassware. The path continues upstairs with the exhibition of art objects made of glass.
In addition to the content, the "container" is definitely interesting. The set-up spaces are located inside the Magazzino del Sale, one of the oldest buildings in the city (1365) in which the salt from the Volterra salt pans was stored.
