β β β β β Very evocative museum about a plane crash that was never explained. This museum was taken down by a missile on its way to Sicily, and it seems to have come from Italy itself. The government has never clarified what happened. The association of the victims' families opened this museum, called Museum of Memory, to remember their struggle from truth and remembrance. French artist Christian Boltanski created this exhibit, with 81 lightbulbs that go on and off and 81 mirrors to remember the victims. The sound system repeats done phrases, daily concern, to represent the victims.

β β β β β The museum is an open space with the rests of the airplane, as well as a small room where a short film is presented, regarding a little bit of the history of the crash, what happened later, and how the remains came to rest here.
It is honestly very harrowing to see something we think of as so powerful or big or strong - a plane - destroyed, with all the lives and people it took with it, while at the same time not knowing what really happened. It was an incredible experience to visit and learn more about this terrible accident.

β β β β β Emozionante: enter in a room below the ground where a plane lies like a broken bird. It was made for flying, but someone threw it to the ground, hitting it to death along with its flying passengers. It is not a matter of responsabilities, not anymore. It is a matter of memories. Human beings are made of memories. They make us what we are, they strike us, they excite us, they are part of us.

β β β β β A really atmospheric and interesting place, giving dignity to the victims. Christian Boltanskis intervention is really well made piece, adding personal layers to the dismantled plane.
