L’itinerario proposto dal Museo Diocesano acquista un significato peculiarmente ecclesiologico quale espressione di fedeltà alle istanze ecclesiologiche del Vaticano II. Le opere in mostra, esposte secondo un criterio di “enti di produzione”, mirano a “narrare” la storia della Chiesa in terra reggiana attraverso le strutture ecclesiastiche che qui hanno operato annunciando il Vangelo di Cristo, celebrando il Suo primo avvento, vivendo la carità, nell’attesa escatologica della Sua venuta ultima. Sono poste così in evidenza le realtà ecclesiali che hanno favorito nel tempo il radicamento e la crescita della fede: la cattedrale segno dell’unità intorno al Vescovo; le pievi, deputate all’amministrazione dei sacramenti; i monasteri, centri di accoglienza, di lavoro, di cultura.
In tal modo è possibile quasi ripercorrere la storia cristiana locale lasciandosi guidare dalle opere artistiche che sono “epifania” della Buona Notizia annunciata dalla Chiesa.

The itinerary proposed by the Diocesan Museum acquires a peculiarly ecclesiological meaning as an expression of fidelity to the ecclesiological instances of Vatican II. The works on display, exhibited according to a criterion of "production bodies", aim to "narrate" the history of the Church in Reggio Emilia through the ecclesiastical structures that have operated here by announcing the Gospel of Christ, celebrating his first advent, living the charity, in the eschatological expectation of His last coming. This highlights the ecclesial realities that have fostered the roots and growth of faith over time: the cathedral as a sign of unity around the Bishop; the parishes, deputies for the administration of the sacraments; monasteries, reception, work and culture centers.
In this way it is possible to retrace the local Christian history by letting yourself be guided by the artistic works that are "epiphany" of the Good News announced by the Church.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Alcuni pezzi di pregevole fattura provenienti sia da Reggio che dalla provincia, lo rendono molto interessante.
Il pavimento della Domus romana recentemente ritrovato sotto l'abside della cattedrale, fa bella mostra di sé nell'ultima sala è semplicemente bellissimo.
Nella seconda sala sono molto interessanti i capitelli di età matildica, vero esempio di abilità nello scolpire la pietra.
Nella sala iniziale oltre alla biglietteria ( ingresso gratuito, se si vuole si fa un' offerta) c'è un affresco ed un crocefisso ligneo di pregevole fattura di epoca medievale.
Some pieces of fine workmanship from both Reggio and the province make it very interesting.
The floor of the Roman Domus recently found under the apse of the cathedral, shows off in the last room is simply beautiful.
In the second room the capitals of the Matildic age are very interesting, a true example of ability to sculpt the stone.
In the initial room, in addition to the ticket office (free admission, if you want to make an offer) there is a fresco and a wooden crucifix of fine workmanship from the Middle Ages.
