The archaeological complex located inside the Mibact Cinema direction of Piazza Santa Croce in Gerusalemme, offers a very beautiful view of the Claudio aqueduct and of the Aurelian walls in a well preserved point.

Section of the Aurelian Walls preserved very well, but located in a position that does not allow you to appreciate it as much as it should, since you should stop in definitely very uncomfortable situations. The conservation is however excellent and stands out on all the beauty of the brick masonry and the skill of the masons of the time.

Roma surları ve su kemeri. Bir Roma mühendislik eseri. Bütün tahribata rağmen ayakta kalma gücünü göstermiş.

It’s amazing that these walls are still standing with in the city. They were built between 270 and 275 A.D. by emperor Aureliano to defend the city from possible attacks by barbarians. About 12.5 km of the original 19 km of the wall still remains. At this location they’re not very easy to access but she can still get close sending places still touch the wall. There is no charge.

These ancient walls meander throughout Rome and are not hard to find, especially if you are on foot. As I walked back to our hotel I noted every nuanced portico and doorway along the Via Cammidina. Along the way I passed the stately Hotel Arcangelo Roma and a portion of the ancient Roman Aurelian Wall. The wall was constructed under duress and as an emergency measure to protect Rome from the barbarian invasion of 270. It took only 5 years to build. Amazing what duress will do to a construction project. But then it’s good to have a collection of slaves to build your massive project in a hurry. The Aurelian Wall was contrasted by the modern Harry’s Bar, Rome, on the famous Via Vittorio Veneto, called the most elegant road in Rome. The newly constructed Largo Federico Fellini road took me to the beautiful Borghese gardens, close to the Via Po and our Roman residence, the Hotel Albani. A long but beautiful walk through some amazing historic sites. I kindly suggest that you make a visit by bike to the Aurelian Walls with the guys from "Not for Tourist Rome". They are highly professional: give you a bottle of water, an earphone to listen to the explanations during your cycling tour and keep the group tided together being 2 guides accompanying the people, one in the front (talking) and the other at the rear. With this tour you have a good feeling of the life at that time, passing through and around Caffarella Valley, Appia Antica Park, Terme di Caracalla, Porta San Sebastiano, Porta Metronia, Porta latina, Via Latina, Catacombe San Callisto, Circo di massenzio, Mausoleo di Cecilia Metella. Amazing places!! Only for 10 euro! And if you need to rent a bike, they have for 8 euro!
