Non è stato possibile risalire alla data di collocazione del monumento. Tuttavia, dalla visione di alcune cartoline d'epoca caricate in internet, il monumento esisteva già negli anni '30 del XX secolo. La lastra del lato destro riporta i nomi dei Caduti della Grande Guerra. La lastra del lato sinistro riporta i nomi dei 58 Caduti, originari del villaggio di Torre Faro, nel corso della seconda guerra mondiale. Notizie raccolte su alcuni dei Caduti citati sulle lapidi: Florio Pasquale: deceduto sulla nave "Santamarina" di Salina, bombardata nel tratto di mare tra Lipari e Salina, alle ore 15.45 del 9 Maggio 1943. La nave era salpata da Marina Corta con direzione Vulcano e Milazzo. Viene silurata dal sommergibile inglese Unrivalled a 6.5 miglia S.E. di Lipari. Dei 97 passeggeri presenti, morti 62. Pasquale Florio era marinaio dell'equipaggio mercantile. Secondo il racconto di una parente, la nave aveva il compito di rifornire di acqua potabile le isole.
