Il paese è di epoca medievale, con un borgo più antico costruito sulla cima della collina che sovrasta il resto delle case all'interno della cinta muraria. Di particolare interesse è il museo che ospita la riproduzione fedele dell'antica biga trovata in un terreno del comune, che ora si trova a New York. La collocazione geografica rende Monteleone un ottimo punto da cui raggiungere tantissimi luoghi turisticamente molto interessanti, tra gli altri Cascia, Labro, Piediluco... Da non mancare assolutamente la sagra dello strascinato a metà agosto e la festa del Focone l'8 di Dicembre, in cui una grande pira viene accesa nella piazza del mercato per fare festa fino a notte tarda. Monteleone di Spoleto is a small town not far from Rome, easily reachable passing through Rieti. The town dates back to the Middle Ages, with an older hamlet built on the top of the hill overlooking the rest of the houses within the walls. Of particular interest is the museum which houses the faithful reproduction of the ancient chariot found in a piece of land of the municipality, which is now located in New York. The geographical location makes Monteleone an excellent point from which to reach many touristically very interesting places, among others Cascia, Labro, Piediluco ... Absolutely not to be missed is the strascinato festival in mid-August and the Focone festival on December 8th, in which a large pyre is lit in the market square to party until late at night.
