This is a modern hotel situated in the countryside, a short drive away from Matera. Upon arrival we found our fridge was not working; we complained about this and it was replaced. The shower fitment attached to the wall was loose and the wall plug which had previously been used to secure it was visible. The paper tissue dispenser was not attached to the bathroom wall properly and was loose. These are small issues but they combine to give the impression that maintenance is not what it should be, which is a shame because the hotel is beautiful. Prospective bathers attracted by the terrific swimming pool should bring their own swimming cap, towel and flip flops. These items are available for 9euro. The wearing of cap and flip flops is strictly enforced. There was no fresh pineapple, mango or melon on the breakfast buffet tables, although I was subsequently told that fresh fruit could be had for an extra payment. Whole kiwi fruit was available.

Fairly awful Not enough service, only two waiters for one and a half coaches of trippers. Outdoor swimming pool closed for several reasons. Indoor pool expensive for a limited time. Also required swimming hats and flipflips. A function at outdoor pool noisy until early hours made sleep impossible. The following day, due to a wedding the entire outside grounds were off limits. Due to the heat, this made life very difficult, However food good when eventually served. Recommend that you use somewhere better.

This hotel is set outside of Mattera, although there is a shuttle bus into town if required. Exact details are available from reception. Staff are all very helpful and pleasant. The room that we had was well maintained and comfortable with the usual facilities. It had coffee making facilities but you do need more coffee unless a single cup will do yoku. The air conditioning worked well - outside 29Β°C but inside a comfortable 22Β°C. The hotel itself is modern and well laid out. Nice setting with good facilities and very good food. The down side? For the two days we stayed, the bar service was at best disjointed and chaotic.

Out of the city, on the highway. Very quiet. A superstore just across the road and can go walking. Rooms are nice but the lights are very dim. Front desk staff courteous but slightly difficult to communicate to if you are not Italian. The restaurant, food, swimming pool, spa, all very good. Lots of parking available.

Pretty standard hotel - nice lobby and restaurant area, rooms are quite basic. All clean which is nice, air conditioning doesn’t work very well. You have to pay separately for the use of the gym, the pool and the indoor pool. Very odd - never been to a hotel with these amenities where they’re not included in the cost of the room. The gym is well equipped which was a nice surprise but the air conditioning is simply inadequate to be able to exercise comfortably while the weather is hot. Also if you want to use the 24 hour gym (there’s a small room with some basic equipment in which is free to use) then don’t expect the equipment to work - the treadmill was broken and no one was interested in fixing it while I was there. The staff are quite friendly but not exactly helpful. The waiting staff in the restaurant are particularly slow and love to look at the floor or chat to each other rather than risk catching your eye. The food is ok - the Caesar salad was surprisingly good but the rest isn’t anything to write home about. The hotel is quite far out of the action too. It’s a solid 20 minute drive to town. Otherwise there’s only a motorway nearby with a supermarket on the other side from the hotel. If I wasn’t here for work I wouldn’t stay here myself.

I ended up on this hotel for a last minute cancellation so I searched for hotels in Matera. MH hotel shows to be a four stars hotel and pretty pictures online but is somewhat disappointing, the price of 170 euro for two nights for a hotel that is under construction? Bed was comfortable but there was mold on the bath/shower. Breakfast is simple and you don't even get a map of the facility for a foreigner other than the key room is just not worth it. Staff was ok, the lady at the front who speak English was awesome some other staff not really. I had 2 breakfast, first morning was ok, second one I even had to go to the front to order a coffee because the staff was not coming to the table at all. Keep on mind staff have to serve you because of Covid restrictions. In other words is just simply not a four star hotel.

This hotel was a great find, and I wish we had stayed longer. Beautiful, comfortable, and great service! We immediately felt a welcoming warmth from Maria at the front desk, who kindly allowed to check in early and directed us to our very comfortable room. After settling in, and as we arrived just right after lunch, we hurriedly went to the restaurant hoping they would still serve us even though it was just minutes past their closing time. As we arrived, we were immediately welcomed by a gentleman who, after telling us the restaurant was closed, was also quick to motion us to a table and told us they'd be happy to still serve us although the menu would be limited. We were so grateful as we did not look forward to getting back on the road to find somewhere to eat. He was very kind and, in true Italian style, told us to enjoy our meal and to take our time...The service was great and we didn't feel rushed at all. The MH Matera Hotel is located a few kilometers away from the center of town, the very touristy area of the Sassi. We were happy to not have to deal with the traffic and parking issues in such a busy area, and to have a safe & well-lit parking lot for our car. We did drive into the city (and straight to a paid parking lot), to enjoy the city views that night. The next morning we had our delicious breakfast buffet, served entirely by the staff to avoid any contact with the food and others. The grounds were delightful and the heated swimming pool was a welcomed relief for our sore muscles. Everyone had to wear a swimming cap to get into the pool, which I appreciated as it makes it easier to keep it clean. The check-out process was quick and easy and, just as when we arrived, the staff was delightful. Thank you Maria and Maurizio for your kindness and beautiful smiles. We will see you again!

Not sure what to say about the property. The facility does not seem to have the A/C working yet. Our room was really warm during the night. The balcony can be accessed from adjacent balconies. This kept us from keeping our door to the outside open. The room was clean and well ordered. The hot water here was great As much as we used the facility the service was really good. Breakfast here was ok. They even had a pancake machine which is kind of a novelty for me. The tourist breakfast was good. Our group had dinner here and this seemed to be more standard hotel fare than anything else. Not impressive. The common areas of the hotel were decorated well and were very clean.
