We had the privilege of meeting the man himself - the grandson of the man who founded the store. He was extremely approachable and patiently took us through the selections. Helped me select a lovely wallet, a gift for a friend which my friend loved. I’ll definitely be going back.

Riccardo Mancini, the great-grandson of the founder is quick to tell you it is the oldest leather shop in Rome (special). His English is decent, but you may want your Google Translate app open. I am the type of guy to spend hours and hours researching a product before buying. And that was exactly what I did with briefcases. I knew I wanted vegetable tanned, full-grain leather, because it was the best-of-the-best. After seeing a few chrome-tranned options, I asked Riccardo for vegetable tanned and he showed me a beautiful, classic briefcase made out of just that. I'm 80-90% sure it's full-grain, but our communication was a bit rough. I continued using my basic knowledge of briefcases to ask him about the metal used in the clip and buckles. About the reinforcement under the handle and so on. Riccardo was very patient with me at 10:30 in the morning. By 11:00 I happily walked out with this bag! After using it for a few days, my only complaint is that the lock on the back is spring-loaded and will close itself just by depressing it. In other words, I always have to keep the lock or a multi-tool handy in case I need to twist the lock back open. Riccardo explained that brass fixtures are not used anymore because they're so expensive. If I were to go back, and if I had enough time. I'd spend the extra money on brass pieces. I know they will last a lifetime.

I purchased a belt here for my mom, and after only a few months of wear, it has completed come apart. You can see that the inside is not even leather and it's just glued together. The fact that they would charge around 50euro for this is shameful!!!

He made my experience great! After I took my time picking the right belt, he cut the belt to the size that would fit my waste. The belt is very soft and I'm definitely going to keep this belt till the next time I go to Mancini's. Highly recommended!

This is not shipped in premade products. He actually had to take up the handle on a purse for Zena. This is a great place with craftsman quality products. I will go back when we get to Rome.
