★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Piola is a simple yet chic restaurant found smack bang in the middle of Alba next to the Duomo. It offered up an unusual mix of regional dishes. Hubby started with the Tripe which I found quite tasty considering I don’t normally eat offal. I had the Russian Salad (can’t really go wrong there). I loved my Ravioli di Gallina in Brodo (basically the most delicious chicken consommé with Ravioli I’ve ever had). The only disappointment was the Fritto Misto alla Piemontese. It was a strange mixture of fried foods including brain, meats, cheese, biscuit and fruits. So the plate was both savoury and sweet? There was a nice selection of cheese and the desserts more than made up for it. Also great local wines at reasonable prices. Staff all spoke English and were very attentive and friendly.

Do not miss the desert gianduiotto alle nocciole con salsa al lamponi e biscotti di nocciole - most delicious one!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely delicious and great service! Had a table for two in the corner of the glass atrium (air conditioned). Lovely location in the square. I'd recommend booking in advance. For dress code a nice dress/shirt & pants are appropriate. Food was well priced. Starters are around €12-15, mains €18-20 and dessert €5-7. Local wine which was recommended to us by the waiter was €22. Really recommend eating here!!!! Not to be missed if staying in Alba.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Higher end restaurant with professional and friendly service. The food was mixed, some dishes very well done and presented, others less so, for example risotto too salty for my taste, or pureed potatoes with an unpleasant consistency. A bit on the pricey side for what you get.
