Accanto si osservano i resti della stazione di arrivo della funicolare ( secondo tratto in devastante abbandono) e la mole del Grand Hotel, opera del Sommaruga, che sta ancora in piedi grazie ai canoni pagati per i ripetitori telefonici. Il resto é senza alcuna manutenzione. I segni di una era felice che non tornerà. It is a non-place, a feeling, a memory, an illusion full of hope. It sums up the Liberty of Varese that is dying. Next to it you can see the remains of the funicular arrival station (second stretch in devastating abandonment) and the bulk of the Grand Hotel, the work of Sommaruga, which still stands thanks to the fees paid for the telephone repeaters. The rest is maintenance-free. The signs of a happy era that will not return.

Attualmente non è visitabile in senso turistico, se non in occasioni speciali e con molte restrizioni. L'ingresso della grotta è a quota 1027 m s.l.m. e ha, allo stato attuale, un dislivello di 508 metri. Grotta Marelli by its discoverer, used in part as a cellar from the hotel and partly open to speleological and tourist expeditions and speleotherapy interventions. Currently it cannot be visited in a tourist sense, except on special occasions and with many restrictions. The entrance to the cave is at an altitude of 1027 m asl and currently has a height difference of 508 meters.
L	Luca Mutti on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Grotta Marelli è una delle 150 grotte carsiche rilevate all’interno del Parco Regionale del Campo dei Fiori a Varese e si trova all’interno del giardino del vecchio Grand Hotel Campo dei Fiori. Il suo nome lo deve a Ferdinando Marelli, il giovane esploratore che nel 1916 perse la vita al suo interno. La cavità si sviluppa complessivamente su 5600 metri con un dislivello di 508 metri. Il ramo superiore percorribile senza imbragature raggiunge una profondità di circa 60 metri. Questa è stata la prima parte scoperta e fino al 1977 si pensava che la grotta finisse in quel pozzo, successivamente un gruppo di speleologi varesini scoprì che la cavità si estendeva per un tratto ulteriore. The Marelli Cave is one of the 150 karst caves found within the Campo dei Fiori Regional Park in Varese and is located within the garden of the old Grand Hotel Campo dei Fiori. It owes its name to Ferdinando Marelli, the young explorer who lost his life inside in 1916. The cavity extends over a total of 5600 meters with a difference in height of 508 meters. The upper branch that can be traveled without harnesses reaches a depth of about 60 meters. This was the first part discovered and until 1977 it was thought that the cave ended in that well, subsequently a group of speleologists from Varese discovered that the cavity extended for a further stretch.
