Questo tratto è stato inaugurato nel 1912 è lungo circa 640 metri e permette di superare un dislivello di circa 100 metri.
Nel corso degli anni la funicolare ha avuto diverse ristrutturazioni, la più significativa è stata effettuata nel 1976.
L' impianto è molto caratteristico e conduce in un area meravigliosa vicino il Parco dei Colli.
In Bergamo there are two funicular systems:
. The first connects Lower Bergamo and Upper Bergamo
The second connects Bergamo Alta Porta Sant'Alessandro with San Vigilio
This stretch was inaugurated in 1912 and is about 640 meters long and allows you to overcome a difference in height of about 100 meters.
Over the years the funicular has undergone several renovations, the most significant was carried out in 1976.
The plant is very characteristic and leads to a wonderful area near the Parco dei Colli.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hem anat cinc cops a Bèrgam i mai no haviem pujwt ap.funicolar de Sant Vigili....i és un goig. És bonic, dolç tranquil i tens unes vistes que et fa entendre mitja Itàlia. Les ciutats estat, Venècia, la plana Padana...us ho recomanem, una excursió bonica i fàcil.
We have been to Bergamo five times and we have never been to the Vigil funicular. It is a joy. It is beautiful, sweet and quiet and you have a view that makes you understand half of Italy. The city states, Venice, the Padan plain ... we recommend it, a beautiful and easy excursion.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Abbiamo preso oggi pomeriggio la funicolare che dalla città alta arriva a San Vigilio. Molto comoda e panoramica e in pochi minuti si arriva su. Peccato che la biglietteria fosse chiusa e l'unica possibilità di prendere i biglietti fosse quella di acquistarli con la carta di credito.
This afternoon we took the funicular from the upper town to San Vigilio. Very comfortable and panoramic and in a few minutes you can reach it. Too bad that the ticket office was closed and the only possibility to get the tickets was to buy them with a credit card.
