C	Claudio on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il Duomo sorge al limite sud dell'isola, in un ampio piazzale ricco di storia al cui centro si trova il Cippo risorgimentale posato su dado settecentesco e l'antenna portabandiera del 1866; ai lati si possono ammirare costruzioni veneziane del ‘500, del ‘600 e del ‘700, mentre di fronte si staglia il bellissimo paesaggio lagunare. La Chiesa presenta una bella prospettiva seicentesca di ispirazione barocca, con forme tradizionali del classicismo, rivolta a ponente, divisa da cornicione in due piani. Il primo evidenzia il portale costeggiato da due finestre del 1739, il secondo piano è abbellito da medaglione contenente l’iscrizione della titolarità della parrocchia, sormontata da timpano a rosone centrale, nella sommità del quale vi sono tre statue di Santi. Di antica fondazione (risalirebbe infatti al 1111) venne distrutta varie volte a causa di invasioni, per venire poi ricostruita, di maggiori dimensioni, nel 1535. In seguito, per l'aumento considerevole della popolazione, venne deciso di ampliarla ulteriormente: i lavori iniziarono nel 1603 e terminarono nel 1618 mentre la struttura attuale è invece del 1864. Il 12 marzo del 1626, con decreto del Maggio Consiglio di Venezia, la comunità parrocchiale ottenne la possibilità per i fedeli di designare il proprio parroco. E	Edoardo Franco on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Magari ci si passa difronte senza avere mai la possibilità di visitarlo, nelle peregrinazioni estive si preferisce il binomio spiaggia e frittura, ma il Duomo vale il tempo utilizzato per la prece a patto di trovare il portone aperto... Si hanno notizie della prima costruzione della Chiesa nel 1111 e altrettante informazioni di demolizioni (dovute ad invasioni) e riedificazioni fino alla sua forma attuale del 1864. Erano i tempi in cui l'isola attraversava il suo momento di maggiore splendore e la popolazione raggiungeva la massima densità, Ognissanti venne così elevato al titolo di Duomo Arcipretale. L'interno classico-barocco si presenta maestoso a navata unica, con svariati Altari (otto per l'esattezza) dell'800, opere d'arte abbellite da quadri, statue e marmi, il tutto in un area di interesse storico, presenti costruzioni veneziane del 500. L'esterno austero, splendida la facciata sormontata da un timpano con rosone centrale e statue dei Santi, si affaccia sul piazzale dove, su un dado del settecento, è stato posizionato un cippo risorgimentale con asta portabandiera, ulteriore reperto che racconta la storia della Chiesa. Una sosta vale veramente la pena.
