★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Molto bello ed originale anche se semplice. Quando si entra nel battistero sembra di fare un tuffo nel passato e ritornare nel medioevo.
Very nice and original even if simple. When you enter the baptistery it seems to take a dip in the past and go back to the Middle Ages.

Nella piazza del paese, piazza del campo, sul lato opposto del castello normanno si trova la cattedrale dedicata a Sant'Anastasia. Come ci ha spiegato un abitante di Santa severina, il paese era la sede della diocesi (ora unita a quella di Crotone), ed era ben rappresentata da questa non piccola cattedrale, per essere un piccolo paese arroccato che oggi conta circa 3mila abitanti.
La chiesa è a croce latina con tre navate. Bello il soffitto a cassettoni di legno. C'è anche un dipinto del XIII secolo sul lato sx.
Annesso si trova il battistero bizantino, ahimè spoglio ma importante testimonianza del passato splendore.
La visita a cattedrale e battistero corona la consigliatissima visita a questo bel borgo.
"Beautiful cathedral in the" Campo "of Santa Severina
In the town square, piazza del campo, on the opposite side of the Norman castle is the cathedral dedicated to Sant'Anastasia. As one resident of Santa Severina explained, the town was the seat of the diocese (now joined to that of Crotone), and was well represented by this non-small cathedral, for being a small perched village that today has about 3 thousand inhabitants.
The church has a Latin cross with three naves. Beautiful wooden coffered ceiling. There is also a painting from the 13th century on the left side.
Attached is the Byzantine baptistery, alas bare but important testimony of the past splendor.
The visit to the cathedral and baptistery crowns the highly recommended visit to this beautiful village.
