Camminata circolare di 8 km circa. L'inizio si trova sul lato della città di Gubbio e nella prima parte di ascesa, con una discreta pendenza si gode del panorama sulla città medievale, passando davanti all'eremo. Poi si continua con un sentiero nel bosco che permette di rifiatare fino ad incontrare una vecchia fattoria e lo stradello verso la cima. Dalla vetta vera e propria, indicata con un omino di pietra, si allj ga di poche centinaia di metri sino alla croce. La discesa dall'altro lato è ben segnalata ma molto ripida, richiede attenzione.

Circular walk of about 8 km. The beginning is on the side of the city of Gubbio and in the first part of the ascent, with a moderate slope, you can enjoy the view of the medieval city, passing in front of the hermitage. Then you continue with a path in the woods that allows you to catch your breath until you meet an old farm and the little road towards the top. From the actual summit, indicated by a stone man, it extends a few hundred meters to the cross. The descent on the other side is well signposted but very steep and requires attention.

Si parte dal quartiere di San Martino presso le mura urbiche in via del Fosso, Borgo Santa Lucia (m 510). Si sale subito per la strada delle vigne e dopo 100 m si gira a dx per l'eremo di S, Ambrogio. Raggiunta una villa, il cui muro di cinta costituisce il punto di giunzione dell'anello che percorreremo, si continua a salire diritti a fianco delle preistoriche mura ciclopiche fino all'eremo di S. Ambrogio generalmente chiuso (m 598 - Km 0,460). Lungo questo primo tratto ci accompagna una particolare vista su Gubbio. Si prosegue in piano per poi salire a sx nel bosco lungo una recinzione e poi con tornanti fino ad un piccolo pianoro. Si continua a salire a sx e dopo 100 m si gira a dx. Ora si prosegue per un lungo tratto quasi in piano con finestre sulla gola del Bottaccione e sull'acquedotto medievale fino ad uscire dal bosco su di una strada bianca (m 805 - Km 2,700). Si continua a salire fino alla fine della strada che arriva a casa M. Foce (m 821 - Km 2,900). Di fronte alla casa si gira a sx e si sale in direzione sud seguendo ancora la strada che gradatamente si dissolve sui prati, fino ad arrivare ad una sella (m 935 - Km 3,600) sul crinale. Da qui, seguendo a sx il crinale si arriva per prati dapprima alla cima del monte Foce (m 983 - Km 4,000) e poi alla croce quasi alla stessa quota. Qui si può godere di uno stupendo panorama sulla catena dell'Appennino dal M. Nerone, al M. Catria, al M. Cucco fino ai M. Sibillini. In basso la città e la pianura di Gubbio. Si torna quindi alla sella per continuare a sx il sentiero che abbiamo in precedenza lasciato, per scendere gradatamente verso Gubbio seguendo dapprima il pendio erboso e poi inoltrandosi nella pineta girando sempre più verso est. All'uscita della pineta il sentiero fa un tornate verso dx e scende ripidamente arrivando ad una casa diroccata (m 709 - Km 6,200). Oltrepassata la casa, un'altra curva a sx fa riprendere la direzione di Gubbio. Arrivati al tornante successivo (attenzione !) non si scende a dx ma si prosegue diritti nella stradina che scende nel bosco e seguendo sempre la stessa direzione si arriva al muro della villa ritrovando la strada che avevamo percorso all'andata.

Now continue for a long, almost flat stretch with windows overlooking the Bottaccione gorge and the medieval aqueduct until you come out of the wood onto a dirt road (805 m - 2.700 km). Continue to climb up to the end of the road that reaches the M. Foce house (821 m - 2,900 km). In front of the house, turn left and go up towards the south following the road that gradually dissolves over the meadows, until you reach a saddle (935 m - 3,600 km) on the ridge. From here, following the ridge to the left, through meadows you first reach the top of Mount Foce (983 m - 4,000 km) and then the cross at almost the same altitude. Here you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Apennine chain from Mount Nerone, Mount Catria, Mount Cucco up to Mount Sibillini. Below the city and the plain of Gubbio. Then go back to the saddle to continue to the left the path we left earlier, to gradually descend towards Gubbio following first the grassy slope and then entering the pine forest turning more and more to the east. At the exit of the pine forest the path makes a return to the right and descends steeply reaching a dilapidated house (709 m - 6,200 km). After passing the house, another curve to the left leads back to the direction of Gubbio. Arrived at the next bend (be careful!) Do not go down to the right but continue straight on the road that goes down into the woods and always following the same direction you arrive at the wall of the villa finding the road we had traveled on the outward journey.
