★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Il complesso conventuale dei Domenicani fu fondato tra il 1491 e il 1513 ed è intitolato a Santa Maria di Tricase. Fu ricostruito nel 1709 nel luogo attuale e soppresso nel 1809 e la chiesa fu riaperta al culto nel 1834. Il prospetto è caratterizzato da un robusto portale e da balconi balaustrati e rispecchia i canoni stilistici del barocco e del rococò. L'interno si sviluppa longitudinalmente ed è ad aula unica decorata con stucchi. Nella navata si aprono tre brevi cappelle per lato contenenti gli altari del Crocifisso, di San Tommaso d'Aquino, di San Domenico di Guzmán, della Madonna del Rosario, di San Vincenzo Ferreri e di San Pietro Martire. L'abside poligonale accoglie l'altare maggiore e alcune tele. E' bella e interessante ma avrebbe bisogno di un po di manutenzione.
The Dominican convent complex was founded between 1491 and 1513 and is dedicated to Santa Maria di Tricase. It was rebuilt in 1709 in its present place and suppressed in 1809 and the church was reopened for worship in 1834. The façade is characterized by a robust portal and balustraded balconies and reflects the stylistic canons of the Baroque and Rococo. The interior develops longitudinally and has a single room decorated with stucco. In the nave there are three short chapels on each side containing the altars of the Crucifix, of San Tommaso d'Aquino, of San Domenico di Guzmán, of the Madonna del Rosario, of San Vincenzo Ferreri and of San Pietro Martire. The polygonal apse houses the main altar and some paintings. It is nice and interesting but needs some maintenance.
