Great little (well, not so little to be fair!) museum! Its a shame most people who visit Rimini (or even people who live there!) dont know about this absolute gem! This city has a very rich history and although a lot of its best historic buildings were destroyed by the bombs in World War II (and sadly never rebuilt/restored), the Museum still preserves some of the glory of Rimini's past in its art collections. From prehistory through the Roman era (a very rich and extremely interesting section of the museum), to the middle ages and the glorious Renaissance period (some big names in the Pinacoteca), the 1600s and up to the modern days, the visitor can explore the history of the city and discover that Rimini has more to offer than just an overcrowded beach and noisy nightclubs. The Museo della CittΓ  should definitely be advertised more and more effort and care (and funds!!) should be put towards its maintenance and development. Do not leave Rimini before you have seen it! Highly recommended!

Very interesting museum of the origins of the city. Well laid out with loads of good information in Italian and English. The exhibit linked to the Domus across the street is also fascinating. Wonderful mosaics! The staff were also particularly friendly and welcoming.

You can easily spend hours in here! There are so many interesting Roman artefacts and stories. There was an art installation and a temporary exhibition on pandemic diseases. We had reduced ticket for 5 eur because the second floor was closed at the time.

Great little museum, the Roman section being particularly good. Unmissable if you are visiting Rimini. I strongly recommend booking, in advance, an English speaking guide for the Surgeon's House: it adds a lot to the experience! Many items/paintings on the second floor could do with more explanation and personally I would move the RenΓ© Grau drawings somewhere else, perhaps a little dedicated gallery by the seafront? When I visited there was a room with the Federico Fellini drawings as well: I assume these have now been moved to the new Fellini museum.

Proved more interesting than I could have hoped for. Starting with a useful lesson in Architecture on the lowest floor to a beautiful mixture of all different arts on the three floors above. I liked the painting of the seven Rimini physicians and the polychrome wood Christ is breathtaking and terrifying. The stress shown on the flesh of the feet and hands of Christ with the nails removed really displays the brutality of the practice of crucifixion. Breathtaking piece!
