L	Luciano Marzi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Le prime tracce di questa chiesa risalgono ad un complesso abbaziale dei Benedettini (IX sec.), eretto sui resti di un tempio pagano. È stata poi completamente ricostruita nel 1553 seguendo i dettami del classicismo veneto e recentemente restaurata. L'interno custodisce le reliquie del martire Giuliano che furono conservate all'interno del sarcofago in marmo d'Istria, visibile al centro dell'abside, fino al 1910 e oggi poste in un'urna all'interno dell'altar maggiore. La tradizione dice che il sarcofago, di età romana, sarebbe approdato a Rimini dalla Dalmazia con le spoglie di San Giuliano Martire. Sull'altare maggiore sono esposti dei capolavori di Paolo Veronese (Il martirio di San Giuliano, i santi Lorenzo e Giorgio Giustiniani) e al terzo altare sinistro il polittico di San Giuliano, preziosa opera di Bittino da Faenza. The first traces of this church date back to a Benedictine abbey complex (9th century), built on the remains of a pagan temple. It was then completely rebuilt in 1553 following the dictates of Venetian classicism and recently restored. The interior houses the relics of the martyr Julian which were kept inside the Istrian marble sarcophagus, visible in the center of the apse, until 1910 and today placed in an urn inside the main altar. Tradition says that the sarcophagus, from the Roman age, would have landed in Rimini from Dalmatia with the remains of San Giuliano Martire. On the main altar are exhibited masterpieces by Paolo Veronese (The martyrdom of San Giuliano, the saints Lorenzo and Giorgio Giustiniani) and on the third left altar the polyptych of San Giuliano, a precious work by Bittino da Faenza.

Al suo interno si trovano numerosi dipinti, da vedere il polittico di Bottino di Faenza, con la storia di San Giuliano, e la Pala centrale dove viene rappresento il martirio di San Giuliano, opera di Paolo Veronese. Il santo venne gettato in mare dentro un sacco pieno di serpenti. Le spoglie del Santo si trovano sotto l'altare maggiore. The church is located in Borgo San Giuliano, a small, very characteristic village. Inside there are numerous paintings, worth seeing is the polyptych by Bottino di Faenza, with the story of San Giuliano, and the central altarpiece where the martyrdom of San Giuliano is represented, by Paolo Veronese. The saint was thrown into the sea in a sack full of snakes. The remains of the saint are found under the main altar.
