β β β β β La chiesa di Santa Caterina o dei Domeni'ani come piace apostrofarla la cittadinanza Livornese fu eretta in sostituzione di una chiesa minore, annessa al convento domenicano, a partire dal 1720 dall'architetto Giovanni del Fantasia.
L'edificio presenta una pianta ottagonale con cappelle laterali ed Γ¨ sormontato da una grande cupola, alta quasi cinquanta metri grazie alla lanterna aggiunta nel 1869 da Dario Giacomelli.
Degno di nota un dipinto del Vasari intitolato Incoronazione della Vergine.
 The church of Santa Caterina or dei Domeni'ani, as the Livorno citizenship likes to call it, was built to replace a minor church, annexed to the Dominican convent, starting from 1720 by the architect Giovanni del Fantasia.
The building has an octagonal plan with side chapels and is surmounted by a large dome, almost fifty meters high thanks to the lantern added in 1869 by Dario Giacomelli.
Noteworthy is a painting by Vasari entitled Coronation of the Virgin.

β β β β β Luogo di culto molto interessante dal punto di vista architettonico ed artistico, posto nel rione piΓΉ bello e particolare di Livorno quale Γ¨ "La Venezia". Per quanto riguarda il lato religioso, Γ¨ un luogo di raccoglimento silenzioso ed accogliente, dove poter pregare in tutta tranquillitΓ . Aperto a lungo durante l'arco della giornata.
Very interesting place of worship from an architectural and artistic point of view, located in the most beautiful and particular district of Livorno which is "La Venezia". As for the religious side, it is a place of silent and welcoming meditation, where you can pray in complete tranquility. Open throughout the day.

β β β β β La chiesa di santa Caterina da Siena edificio barocco costruito a partire dal 1720, Γ¨ un raro caso architettonico di chiesa a base ottagonale. Al suo interno gli affreschi che occupano circa 1500 metri quadrati, ne fanno una delle chiese maggiormente affrescate di tutta la Toscana. Inoltre possiamo ammirare una pala del Vasari: l'incoronazione della vergine, precedentemente ospitata presso i musei vaticani.
Purtroppo non Γ¨ valorizzata come meriterebbe, trovo che sia troppo abbandonata a se stessa.
Merita comunque una visita anche per poter godere dello splendido quartiere della nuova Venezia

The church of Santa Caterina da Siena, a baroque building built starting in 1720, is a rare architectural case of a church with an octagonal base. Inside, the frescoes which occupy about 1500 square meters make it one of the most frescoed churches in all of Tuscany. We can also admire an altarpiece by Vasari: the coronation of the virgin, previously housed in the Vatican museums.
Unfortunately it is not valued as it deserves, I find that it is too abandoned to itself.
However, it is also worth a visit to enjoy the splendid district of the new Venice

β β β β β A cute little baroque church that we could see from the new castle park so we decided to walk to it and check it out. The architecture is very contrasting with the dome being a markedly different style than the lower level construction. Very beautiful painted inside.
