★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Le origini di questa chiesa risalgono, secondo alcuni testi, alla metà del XIII secolo, quando i Padri Agostiniani, che allora tenevano anche la chiesa di San Jacopo in Acquaviva, si trasferirono all'interno del villaggio labronico per coadiuvare il pievano della vicina chiesa di Santa Maria (oggi scomparsa).
Nel 1425 il primitivo oratorio fu ingrandito con la costruzione di un vero e proprio convento. Tuttavia fu solo nel 1624 che gli Agostiniani decisero di ricostruire la loro chiesa secondo il progetto di Francesco Cantagallina.
A seguito dei danneggiamenti causati da un terremoto, nel 1742 fu dotata di due portali in marmo, mentre nel 1833 fu sottoposta ad un nuovo restauro. Agli inizi del Novecento l'area attorno alla chiesa fu sottoposta a grandi modifiche e sventramenti; queste distruzioni precedettero di alcuni decenni le devastazioni della seconda guerra mondiale, che tuttavia risparmiarono l'antico luogo di culto.
La chiesa si presenta bella al suo interno con materiali pregiati come marmi ori e tele griffate, scadente all' esterno dove la scarna facciata e il semplice campanile confondono la chiesa con i palazzi circostanti.
La facciata è stata ristrutturata nel 2020.
According to some texts, the origins of this church date back to the mid-thirteenth century, when the Augustinian Fathers, who then also kept the church of San Jacopo in Acquaviva, moved to the Labronic village to assist the parish priest of the nearby church of Santa Maria (now disappeared).
In 1425 the primitive oratory was enlarged with the construction of a real convent. However, it was only in 1624 that the Augustinians decided to rebuild their church according to the project of Francesco Cantagallina.
Following the damage caused by an earthquake, in 1742 it was equipped with two marble portals, while in 1833 it was subjected to a new restoration. At the beginning of the twentieth century the area around the church underwent major changes and disembowelments; these destructions preceded by several decades the devastations of the Second World War, which however spared the ancient place of worship.
The church looks beautiful inside with precious materials such as gold marbles and designer canvases, poor on the outside where the sparse facade and the simple bell tower confuse the church with the surrounding buildings.
The facade was renovated in 2020.
