Si trova a un posto strategico e bellissimo panorama e di grande tranquillità durate le mesi invernali quando lo turismo diminuisce molto. Raccomando a tutti uma visita a questo posto vale molto la pena. Beautiful medieval church on the highest place of the Gran Sasso. La chiesa venne costruita nel 1934 per volere del cardinale Federico Tedeschini,[2] nell'ambito di un vasto progetto comprendente la realizzazione di infrastrutture, strutture ricettive ed impianti sciistici nell'estremità occidentale di Campo Imperatore, nel territorio comunale dell'Aquila. Il progetto è riconducibile all'architetto romano Enrico Lenzi, che lo realizzò con la supervisione del soprintendente Alberto Riccoboni.[3] Nel dopoguerra rimase abbandonata per diversi decenni, fino al restauro del 1992, reso possibile grazie alla sezione abruzzese dell'Associazione Nazionale Alpini.[4] Al termine del restauro, il 20 giugno 1993, venne consacrata da papa Giovanni Paolo II, particolarmente legato al Gran Sasso d'Italia ed in particolare a Campo Imperatore, dove si recava frequentemente a sciare in incognito.[ The church of the Madonna della Neve is a small religious building located in Campo Imperatore (L'Aquila), the highest in Italy among those consecrated.
