La struttura del Duomo risale probabilmente al XV secolo; secondo alcune fonti documentarie l’attuale chiesa fu realizzata sui resti di quello che un tempo era un tempio dedicato a Marte.Tra il XVI ed il XVII secolo il Duomo di Marcianise fu arricchito con ulteriori decorazioni, anche pittoriche. L’interno del monumento si sviluppa in tre navate; su ciascun lato si aprono tre cappelle. Della navata centrale fa parte una tela seicentesca con la rappresentazione di San Michele. Nella Chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo è custodito il famoso Crocifisso di Marcianise.
The Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Marcianise is the current Cathedral of the city. The structure of the Cathedral probably dates back to the 15th century; according to some documentary sources the current church was built on the remains of what was once a temple dedicated to Marte. Between the XVI and the XVII century the Cathedral of Marcianise was enriched with further decorations, also pictorial. The interior of the monument is divided into three naves; on each side there are three chapels. The seventeenth-century canvas with the representation of Saint Michael is part of the central nave. The famous Marcianise Crucifix is kept in the Church of San Michele Arcangelo.
