A	Alessandro Zorzi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Risulta essere tra le chiese più antiche della città, essendo menzionato sin dall'età longobarda un luogo di culto dedicato al Protomartire, le cui più antiche testimonianze scritte appaiono attorno all'anno 1000. Il campanile fu riedificato unitamente alla chiesa attuale, essendo però crollato addirittura nel XVI secolo a causa di un terremoto. Il progetto attuale dell'edificio risale infatti al Settecento e venne costruito su progetto del trevigiano Ottavio Scotti, autore tra l'altro della Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta di Ceneda. Nella prima metà del XIX secolo la chiesa si arricchì delle navate laterali, mentre al secolo scorso risalgono le decorazioni delle pareti interne. It appears to be among the oldest churches in the city, since a place of worship dedicated to the Protomartyr has been mentioned since the Lombard age, whose oldest written records appear around the year 1000. The bell tower was rebuilt together with the current church, but it even collapsed in the 16th century due to an earthquake. The current design of the building dates back to the eighteenth century and was built on a project by Ottavio Scotti from Treviso, author, among other things, of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Ceneda. In the first half of the nineteenth century the church was enriched with aisles, while the decorations of the interior walls date back to the last century.

Altre testimonianze scritte parlano della sua appartenenza all’anno 1000 circa. Agli inizi de 1500 un terremoto causò il crollo del campanile della chiesa e fu riedificato solamente duecento anni dopo. Nel tempo è stata rimaneggiata più volte, nella sua riedificazione nel corpo centrale risale alla metà del 1700. Ora la chiesa si presenta a pianta rettangolare, conserva una pala, opera di Domenico Maggiotto, raffigurante San Cristoforo, affiancato da due apostoli e un dipinto di Jacopo Guarana. Una delle importanti funzioni che svolge ai giorni nostri è quella di riunire le diverse comunità straniere di fede cattolica presenti a Treviso, realizzando le Sante Messe nelle diverse lingue. Data della mia visita: 7/03/2020 The church of Santo Stefano are located in the historic center of Treviso. The structure dates back to the Lombard age, around the year 1000. The facade is in classical style, with Corinthian half-columns. The interior has a single nave, longitudinal plan, in a classic style.
