Entrambe le chiese sono comunicanti tra loro da una porta interna quando sono aperte, hanno anche un ingresso indipendente quando una delle due è chiusa. Queste due chiese insieme al vicino Monte di Pietà, fanno parte di uno stesso blocco architettonico, modificatosi nel tempo, sia per le funzioni svolte con cui sono state create, sia per i rifacimenti architettonici. Il primo nucleo, edificato intorno all’883, era costituito da uno Xenodochio, struttura di appoggio ai pellegrini durante il Medioevo, adibita a ospizio gratuito per viaggiatori e forestieri. La trasformazione del primo nucleo costruttivo in chiesa urbana, a navata unica, si attuò alla fine del XII secolo. La piccola abside affrescata, che Mario Botter restauratore trevigiano, che scoprì e restaurò nel 1924 costituisce attualmente l’unica testimonianza della primitiva costruzione. A essa è sovrapposto il campanile basilicale che fu portato all’altezza odierna quando nel 1561 sopra la chiesa furono fabbricati dei locali a uso del Monte di Pietà. Tra le opere di particolare interesse artistico presenti ci sono: gli affreschi veneto-bizantini dei secoli XII e XIII; il tabernacolo murale del XIV secolo; dipinto attribuito ad Antonio Zanchi del XVIII secolo e il crocifisso di Francesco Terrilli da Feltre detto “il Rossetto” del XVIII secolo. The church of Santa Vito is located in the homonymous square in Treviso and together with that of Santa Lucia is one of the oldest religious buildings in the city. Both churches are communicating with each other by an internal door when they are open, they also have an independent entrance when one of the two is closed. These two churches together with the nearby Monte di Pietà, are part of the same architectural block, which has changed over time, both for the functions performed with which they were created, and for the architectural renovations. The first nucleus, built around 883, consisted of a Xenodochio, a support structure for pilgrims during the Middle Ages, used as a free hospice for travelers and strangers. The transformation of the first building nucleus into an urban church, with a single nave, took place at the end of the 12th century. The small frescoed apse, which Mario Botter restorer from Treviso, who discovered and restored in 1924 is currently the only testimony of the primitive construction. The basilica bell tower is superimposed on it, which was raised to its present height when in 1561 rooms were built above the church for the use of the Monte di Pietà. L'apertura della chiesa è dovuta alla meritoria opera di volontari.
