Se sarete fortunati, potrete assistere alla benedizione delle mamme in dolce attesa, che con fede e devozione chiedono la protezione del nascituro, proprio ricorrendo a Sant'Anna, nonna di Nostro Signore Gesù. La chiesa ha il nome di Santa Caterina d'Alessandria martirizzata con la ruota, da qui il nome di Santa Caterina della Rota. La Confraternita dei Parafrenieri provvede alla amministrazione di questo luogo di culto. Non aggiungo altro, ma sarà una piacevole scoperta. A jewel! Small church dedicated to the cult of St. Anne, surely you will find in this day open for the celebration of Holy Mass. If you are lucky, you can watch the blessing of expectant mothers who, with faith and devotion, ask for the protection of the unborn, by resorting to Sant'Anna, the grandmother of Our Lord Jesus. The church has the name of Saint Catherine of Alexandria martyred with the wheel, hence the name of Saint Catherine of the Rota. The Confraternity of the Paragliders provides for the administration of this place of worship. I won't add anything else, but it will be a pleasant discovery.
G	G.J. Koppenaal on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ De eerste vermelding van dit gebouw is te vinden in een pauselijke bul uit 1186, maar waarschijnlijk dateert de eerste kerkbouw al uit de 9e eeuw. De kerk is eind 16e eeuw geheel gerestaureerd, en daarna weer in 1730, toen het barokinterieur werd gemaakt. In dat jaar is ook de (barok)gevel geplaatst. Het interieur heeft een enkel schip met aan elke kant drie kapellen. Het opmerkelijke 16e-eeuwse houten plafond is afkomstig uit de kerk van San Francesco d'Assisi, die is afgebroken ter gelegenheid van de bouw van de muren van de Tiber. De kerk is op zich niet heel interessant voor de toerist die op zoek is naar 'mooi' en 'groot', maar heeft als kleine - en nog steeds actieve - kerk wel heel veel sfeer. Al bijna 100 jaar (1929) wordt deze kerk geleid door een kleine kloosterorde. Op het moment dat ik er ben is er net een viering bezig. Ik tel naast een aantal kerkgangers bijna 20 geestelijken in de koorbanken. VEN. BOOG. V. S.ANNAE. PARAFR. Staat boven de deur, en dat betekent: 'Eerbiedwaardige Vaticaanse aartsbroederschap van St. Anne van de Parafrenieri'.

However, you might find a wedding going on especially on Saturdays. This little 16th century confraternity church has a tatty frontage, but an interesting interior. There is an impressive carved and painted ceiling, actually salvaged from a nearby demolished church.
