C	Courtney Christ on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one, is because Jill really is so nice and the salon seemed so homey. I originally came to Element Salon, because "An American in Rome" said that Jill KNOWS blonde. This was my first time going blonde, from naturally dark hair, and I was a bit nervous since I knew it would be a little difficult. I walked out of Element with orange hair. She basically just bleached it for 40 minutes and then gave me an uneven cut, as if asking for layers was something she had never heard of. I sat there as she literally cut chunks out of my hair, very obvious in any photos from those three fateful days I kept the cut until I got a new appointment with an Italian salon. My appointment was 1.25 hours long. To go from brunette to blonde... For reference, every other salon I have been to takes at least four hours because my hair is so dark. I wish I could upload photos for visual evidence. Maybe Jill is good at keeping blondes blonde, but this was one of the WORST haircuts and definitely the worst color I have ever received. I would not recommend her or her salon to go from brunette to blonde. Stick with the Italians!

One time it started pouring rain just as Jill was finishing my haircut and I ended up staying an extra hour just to sit and talk to everyone. That’s just the kind of place this is. Always look forward to stopping by.

Jill, owner and hairdresser, is REALLY talented....I do cut and balayage painted highlights and lowlights and they NEVER look grown out and my hair color always looks fresh. Prices are fair, especially for being right in the historic center of Rome. If you are concerned with language as an English speaker, do not worry, all the stylists are English speakers. Jill is also fun-loving and has that southern charm which makes it a fun experience, too. NOTE: I just went today 16/6/20 for the first cut post-quarantine and Element Salon follows ALL of the safety protocols so you do not have to worry. Masks required, everything sanitized, single use hair towels and gowns....

I really appreciated how well she listened to my hair needs and the result was exactly what I wanted. Being a visitor and not a local, initially I was sceptical to get my hair done by just anyone. I had a good feeling about her instantly over the phone when I set up the appointment. She was very down to earth and spoke English (which helped me but wasn't an expectation of mine, of course). She was willing to squeeze me into her busy day with late notice. The experience with her was great. We laughed like we'd been friends forever. I really appreciate her and my hair is now fabulous again!

She executed it perfectly, and we had a great time laughing and chatting together while she gave me the cut. If you're looking for an English-speaking hairstylist in Rome, look no further!

She takes time to understand your hair type and what you're looking for. She cares about the products she uses on your hair. The pricing for foreigners is less confusing than at Italian salons since a wash, cut, and blow-dry are all rolled into 1 set price. No surprise extra charges :)

She was the first hairdresser in Rome to ever give me the colour that I asked for! She's friendly, professional and listened to what I needed and gave me what I asked for! I'm looking forward to my next appointment with her and I highly recommend her!
