Historically very important church and with complex vicissitudes related to worship; however, it remains to be said that regardless of the historical factor, what we admire today is truly a little gem, both in terms of architecture and maintenance. The simple external facade, but perfectly inserted in the complex of the other buildings; internally he gives his best with truly wonderful works. Absolutely to visit.

Enclosed among the palaces on Piazza Farnese, the small church of the Brigidine order has a single nave with a frescoed barrel vault and a sober eighteenth-century facade. Inside there is a seventeenth-century copy of the Madonna with Child by A.Carracci to report because the original is lost.

The small church of Santa Brigida overlooks the famous Piazza Farnese and often takes a back seat to Palazzo Farnese. But as a local tour guide in Rome I tell you that, despite everything, this place of worship also has its charm, especially for the woman to whom it is dedicated. In fact, the Church of Santa Brigida was built during the 14th century (therefore it has a considerable age) in the place where the homonymous saint, of Swedish origins, asked the pontiff of his time for permission to open a hospice and a shelter for the most needy. The woman, canonized at the end of that century, spent her life in assistance and charity towards the weakest and most needy. A shining example, therefore, of Christian charity immortalized in a church later restored by the powerful Cardinal Albani in the seventeenth century.

Finalmente siamo riusciti a vederla aperta.
We finally managed to see it open. Small but very beautiful, the nuns very kind. The crib is wonderful.

Casa di Santa Brigida is a glorious time machine to the real city of Rome. Goethe said "Only in Rome is it possible to understand Rome." And at the Casa di Santa Brigida on the Piazza Farnese - you can stay in luxury accommodations from another age that will perhaps allow you to experience the classical Rome of another age. This wondrous place of rest and refreshment is run as a ministry by the Sisters of Santa Brigida - an order devoted to the care of travelers on pilgrimage. It is not a hotel - you take care of your own luggage. And when going out at night they will hand you a HUGE key to open the massive door to 55 Via di Monserato. And don't expect anyone to wait up for you when returning late, the sisters will have retired in order to be up early for prayer. In this way it is more like staying with friends, albeit friends living in a massive palace. Our rooms were beautiful, with an eclectic mixture of furniture from the late 19th and early 20th century. There is no television, only simple lighting fixtures, however there are well-appointed bath fixtures. The rooms were elegant, and comfortable. Mind you they are also quiet. This is a quiet, beautiful place. The dining room is busy, and that's because the food is EXCELLENT. In a city with the greatest dining on earth, we found food (and wine) that is wonderful and energy-giving for long days of walking through the Eternal City. Located on the Piaza Farnese (across from the French Embassy), you are one minute's walk from the Tiber River. Casa di Santa Brigida is located just about midpoint between St. Peter's and the Colosseum. One does not seek out the Casa di Santa Brigida looking for a luxury experience (in the 21st century meaning of the term), rather this is the place to stay in order to prepare one's self for experiencing the true meaning of what Rome offers. Do NOT stay here if you are a tourist - this is a place of welcome for people open to unique and wonderful experiences in the Eternal City. There are many hotels throughout with all the modern conveniences if you are a tourist. This is probably not for people with mobility issues. And it is not a budget experience, if you are concerned about that - it is best to look elsewhere.
