β β β β β Simply the Best Church probably in all of Venice. Smaller but amazing interior. It'll make you wonder why it's not more famous. Just a couple minutes from St Mark's.

β β β β β This is a beautiful church. The paintings are magnificent and the crypt is very cool. The opening times are minimal so be sure to check. But definitely worth visiting.

β β β β β Lovely church with some excellent paintings, a charge of 3 euro each to see the crypt below is not worth the money as it us a bare room with a concrete floor with nothing to see really.

β β β β β Nice church. You can take photos (no flash) and it is a working church so there are services on Sundays and holidays. You can light a candle for 1 euro and there is a small art exhibit and access to a flooded crypt (pretty cool) all for 3 euro.

β β β β β Found this beautiful old church on my 1st day in Venice. The church is beautiful, filled with many paintings my favorite of which is the Bellini of Virgin and Child between Saints and Angel playing musical instrument.
Went back again today to see the Chapel of the Choir. I highly recommend paying the small entry fee to see this. In addition to the choir room you will see how part of an old chapel is being restored. Origin frescos can still be seen up on the ceiling and parts of the walls. Plus you can go down a few steps to see the flooded subterranean section where 8 of the early Doges of Venice are buried. It probably wasn't flooded when the Doges were interred there. Water levels have risen over the centuries.
I used to believe that all of the paintings in churches were done on the walls themselves. In this church, if you look carefully, you can see that the paintings are enormous canvasses that are framed, by cutting them down to size to fit into the spaces around or between the side altars.
